is it a stupid reason to not like using my gdemu because i love the disc seeking noise? it sounds like a printer its quite charming, like when in skies of arcadia you can hear the disc drive revving up before a random encounter ruining the element of surprise lmao. and it just feels so quiet and empty and soulless when i play on my modded dreamcast. the convenience is nice but something so insignificant is so meaningful to me and makes me wish i had a better working disc drive instead. am i a weirdo for this or does anyone who loves this console feel the same

Tldr on the Brazilian Dreamcast situation?

All those little sound cues were definitely a part of the experience. There's an option in some CD-based emulators to show a disc access indicator on-screen but it doesn't seem to be the standard.
I don't remember the disc reads being as audible in DVD-based systems for whatever reasons.

QRD on picrel?

i think the dreamcast is definitely the loudest disc drive ive ever heard in any console. maybe its cuz mine is really old, but ive seen other videos and it sounds the same. even other cd based consoles like saturn or ps1 dont rly sound the way the dreamcast does. i think its fucking awesome. it feels like im hearing it thinking as corny as that sounds lolol

brazil is a shithole

Nah they're all like that. It's definitely the loudest disc based system I've used but I've never owned a 3DO or CDi and I could see those potentially being louder.
>>
I've never seen a Dreamcast with worn out rails or a dead drive motor unlike most other consoles from that era, so maybe they're just built like tanks and that's why.

Literally just google "dreamcast brazil", idiots.
>>
>>12775245
It's literally part of the experience. I hate that the Dreamcast doesn't have an ODE option that lets you keep the disk drive.

If you want a good laugh, look up what the average IQ is there. The average is in the low 80s. This is funny because anything 85 or below is classified as mentally retarded. It really explains a lot!
>>
>>12775342
What does that have to do with retro videogames?
>>
>>12775289
I had a Dreamcast in 2002 and it was the loudest disc drive I had ever heard, they were always like that.

A lot of users on this board are from there and make shitty threads

no context zoomer memes

i think it's just metaphor for third world countries removing parts of game consoles or "modding" them to remove disk drives so they could just play off flash or hdd. I myself did that with psp's worthless UMD drive that you cant even burn disks to and replaced it with battery mod
of course collectors go ape shit because it devalues consoles, something only first worlders care about
>>
>>12775515
No, it's a story that went viral some time ago about a Brazilian teenager who accidentally jizzed in his Dreamcast, which then stopped working. When his parents found out, he didn't tell them what happened so they took it to a repair shop thinking it was just a random hardware failure.
>>
>>12775245
Using CD-R's to play games puts stress on the Dreamcast's laser and wears it out. That's why people often buy a GDEMU, it's more convenient and you won't have to worry about scratching your official discs.
>>
>>12776986
Shut the fuck up shidder, your bait sucks and you're a fucking retard
>>
>>12777026
Triggered CD-R fag detected. What's the matter crybaby? Can't afford an ODE? Tough shit bruh.
