So now that the dust has settled, Is it a good product for the price for retro gaming?
>>
>>12776589
If you are adamant on gaming on a modern TV then it's the best option. I'd rather play on a CRT though.
>>
>>12776594
Is it better than a CRT, is the question. I dont think its worth paying $1000+ for a good one that can be broken easily and is degradable tech.
>>
>>12776597
The answer is different for everybody. A lot of people don't like dropping a ton of money on retro gaming so they are a hard no, I don't mind paying up for expensive shit, but I'd rather play on a $20 CRT than a $2k OLED and $700 upscaler because I consider old display tech part of the retro experience. Everyone's answer is going to be different, find what's right for you.

>If your modern television only has HDMI input ports
>Buy this $750 "adapter" and it works sometimes!
Or don't purchase a modern television???
>>

Does this detect phases? I want to make sure every phase is detected or else I can't enjoy Sonic the Hedgehog.
>>
I'm not sure anything beyond the 5x is worth it. Tv's can scale 1080p to 4k pretty nicely already. I'm guessing the scanlines effects on this are the real selling point.

CRTsisters....It's over.

low t gadgets like these are the most retarded placebo ever.

>buy a $75 CRT on Facebook marketplace?
>nah, I'll blow $750 on a gay adapter for my high latency 4K piece of shit LCD panel

>click the thread think its talking about the new 230 dollar version

>just more obsessing over the professional model

just announced version
no hdmi-INPUT
and pseudo 4k not real 4k, but can fill vertical

WHY IS ANYONE TRYING TO PLAY RETRO GAMES AT ANYTHING ABOVE 720p?!

I use a 5x but I keep it locked to 720p on a 1080p screen. You can't ADD definition to an image that was made for 480i CRTs.
>>
threadly reminder that all the youtubers shilling these got one for free and you're paying $750 to cover the cost of that
>>
>>12776743
Here's the funny thing about that:
• I don't watch YouTubers
• I have zero intent to purchase this
• I already own two different functioning CRT televisions

I seriously do not sympathize with kids who are watching streaming services to "learn" about the world outside.
Just... go to a store? CHA-CHING!
>>
>>12776589
There are FAR FAR cheaper scalers
>>
>>12776630
>CRT sistas it's ovACK ACK ACK ACK ACK "KREAK

That scaling looks horrible, and not like a good CRT at all

retrotink 4k pro is the best way to play PS2 games 480i and retro games. Its processing is still unbeaten for modern displays. Get the 6X if you want to be on a budget, but even still the 6X or the 4K CE wont come close to the $750 deinterlacing, Its just too good.

>>12776743
The FPGA and cost to put this onto a board with all the manufacturing is alone $450. Add on all the features and more advanced settings its like $500 to produce.

>>12776760
And they are not good.

>>12776761
The CRT is blurry, you cant even see marios eyes and the ghosts face. Tons of detail is lost
>>
>>12776632
playing video games in general is low t
>>
>>12776630
What exactly is this image meant to show?

>>12776858
>And they are not good.
Some are okay
>>
>>12776589
The 6X is a much better deal in my opinion. It's basically the same as the 4K CE, but it's 1440p native and has a pseudo 4k mode. There's no doubt that the 4K model is good, but it's way too expensive for what it is.
