I like to think I'm OK at Doom but how do you better players deal with a giant red screen flash when you get hit by a cyberdemon rocket without freaking the fuck out?
I got this video recommended earlier today and thought about all the times where if I got flashed by that, unless I'm extremely lucky, I usually think it's a killshot and lose my ability to recoupe. Obviously a bit of an extreme example, but anyways:

Like a blinding red flash? Literally keep trying to move like I was, or desparetely course correct, and pray to god I'm not dead, which occasionally I'm lucky enough to not be.

It's a "Well DUH!" but you need to avoid taking the hit.

I gotta say though, once I take a sauare rocket hit from a Cyber, I'm not just almost dead, the difficulty seeing and being sent flying is often a death sentence in itself, stumbling to your feet afterwards is a matter of luck to me.

Here's a relatively unknown example of Skillsaw's humble beginnings. It's not bad as far as '98 maps go, but the first secret seriously makes no sense. From now on I'm going to clip some actual gameplay, which should occasionally serve as a helpful example if people don't want to load the demo.

I saw a guy with the license plate TUROK yesteray. So based, I wanted to shake his hand.

I have discovered that the best way to play DOOM (a game for strong, masculine men) is to inject large amounts of Testosterone before I play. The Hegseth method. I am much much better at the game when I do this and I feel like a SOLDIER. Does anyone else chemically enhance their DOOM experiences. Ideally there would be a cocktail of drugs that when taken, makes you think and feel just like the DOOM guy himself, and never wears off. Because who would want to be anything else?
