Do you still own your childhood collection?
>>
>>12778716
Sadly not no. But I have re bought it all

It's all bootleg cartridges so it's worth little, but yes.
>>
I have some of it. Most of my SNES stuff for sure.
CD-I, game gear, NES, apple iiGS, and 5170 ibm were thrown out by the parents.
Game boy and collection was sold by my sister to buy weed.
Entire N64 and GameCube collections and consoles were sold by my brother to buy sports tickets that he scalped for profit.
Gave away the PSX, Xbox, PS2 and games years ago in a sort of an heroic moment.
But the trusty SNES lives on. I only game on my desktop now, and I’m fine with that.

Only what I had on Gamecube.
My mom did this really based thing when I turned 18 and had to move out, when I was worried about not being able to take everything with me. She said I could leave stuff behind and it’d be left alone. So I move out and try to return literally days later and every single thing I had left behind was thrown away.
>if you wanted it, you’d have taken it with it
I lost all my NES, SMS, Genesis, N64, GB/GBA, and PS1 stuff.
>>
>>12778716
None of those were yours and you are not a woman.
>>
>>12778794
OP did not present it that way. It’s got a filename that indicates he got the pic on the web. If he wanted to pretend it’s him, he would’ve spoofed a standard iPhone or Android image file name (a thing you can do to mess with people).
>>
>>12778750
Just bitter you didn’t have a collection of them as a kid

It is the one that hurt the most, for sure. And it was the most recent one. Parents cleaned out their storage shed during covid and I found out weeks later they tossed it into a big metal dumpster. It still worked and had the original monitor, floppy drives, keyboard, and mouse. Fucking damnit, that was the first computer I ever used, and 2nd thing I gamed on after NES. I need to take a deep breath and calm myself.

No I had to sell them all to pay rent.

Yes but I'm selling my copy of chrono trigger right now. $250. Any takers?

Unfortunately someone left the cellar door open and they escaped.
>>
>>12778716
No I sold all of it. Emulation is fine with scratching that retro itch for me. Any time I think about playing "authentically" I just think of the hundreds of dollars I don't have that I'd have to spend just for the sake of nostalgia.
>>
>>12779178
>I'd have to spend
Wouldn't have to be a thing if you didn't sold them in the first place
>>
>>12779194
i'd be homeless if I didn't sell them.

>>
>>12778716
Only the good stuff, I traded or sold off anything I didn't like and if I really ever wanted to play it again I would just emulate. Except the PSX games I had over 100 games all stolen by a crackhead my aunt was dating at the time. I got him back by stealing thousands of dollars of speakers from him.

And I thought my parents were evil for chasing me outside of our apartment so that "computer could rest" meanwhile our refrigerator has worked since before the fall of Yugoslavia and yet they had no problems with that. Jesus Christ anon. I would have held a petty unreasonable grudge for life if that happened to me.
>>
>>12778716
Some of it. I want to kill myself when I think about all the stuff I sold back in the day though, or traded in to my local game store for peanuts. I had pretty large Saturn and N64 collections at one point, all of which are gone. Same with the Mega Drive and SNES. I kept most of my PS1 and Dreamcast stuff though, along with later consoles.
>>
>>12778716
The only games I still own from my childhood are my very first game - Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt, which came with my NES Action Set, and my NES copy of Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
>>
>>12778716
yeah but it was and is very small, think we had around 5 nes games and 10 snes games
>>
>>12778778
Stupid fucking bitch
>>
>>12778778
I think i would just intentionally ruin my life to spite my parents if they forced me to move out as soon as i turned 18.
>>
>>12778716
Yes, exept for Super Monkey Ball, that game sucked ass so I sold it.

It could be worse, you could have to take care of you dad with cancer and his house because you were the youngest kid then see all of your contacts leave you and your credentials become more meaningless until you get drunk every waking moment replaying 30 year old video games longing for the sweet escape of death.
>>
>>12783293
Painful. Gave away my collection of nearly 100 N64 cartridges, 4 controllers, and fully working console when I fled my homeland. Emulation is my cope.

I still have my original Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, Game Gear, PS1, N64, PS2, Dreamcast, PS3, Gamecube, Wii, Xbox, and Xbox 360 along with most of the games I have for them.

The only one I ever tried to use was my N64, which I got for Christmas in 1997. It still works like the day I got it. I'm almost 38 and it's surreal loading up game files that I began when I wasn't even 10.

I've lost my Sega Genesis and SNES sadly
>>
>>12778716
Yes, PC and console all of it still in box mostly but I got into collecting probably as a late teen and my parents got rid of a few cool things I got from garage sales, a 32X, an Amiga 500 and an NES because they thought it looked like junk because they were opened up and I was doing mods, a neighbor had told them any tech more than 5 years old is junk. I got new ones now. I hope they make more proper repros like the new Neo Geo so more people can get a 2nd chance particularly the 32X.

>>12778871
The GS is harsh, 5170 you can use an 8088 replica laptop, Game gear half of them are broken, NES you can get a cheap famicom with adaptor. CD-i I have but never got it working so don't know but doesn't feel that special.

>>12778778
Boomers yeah. I had a huge PC collection in boxes to protect them I gutted them all and folded them flat so I could about 50 in a single cupboard to hide it from them. Not really worth anything but I think its much more important to preserve them possibly for replication in the future.

>>12784618
You would just use a flashcart anyway probably, sure its cool to read the manuals.
>>
Lost NES and Game Boy to damages in moves, SNES and PS1 are still in my collection, all the games were sold some 10 years ago, just use flash carts and ODE's or burnt CD's now. The only retro game I actually still own is currently in possession of my best friend, and he's 3,000 miles away.
>>
>>12786956
>The only retro game I actually still own is currently in
Well, what game is it that you decided to not sell?
>>
>>12778716
Have my original NES, Genesis, PS1, and PS2. still have all of the games for the sony consoles. Sold about half of the genesis games to buy the ps1 back in the day but since rebought all those sold carts on ebay and a few others i rented back in the day. Have like half of the original NES stack but a few carts got tossed out by my parents by accident (RIP battletoads and Super mario 2)
>>
>>12778716
No, I'm a retard who sold every single game every time so I could afford the next console.
