CRTS are good for 8, 16bit games and they do offer really good visuals for those systems in a. Dark room but they are not much else good for anything and I own a 19" CRT that's heavy. I got mine for $50 and I only use it for 2D games.3D consoles like PS2, GameCube I much prefer an OLED with a retrotink upscaler.3D isn't anymore "clear" on a CRT. It just blurring things together, that's it. It's still low resolution and not actually making the picture better
>>12779203The main draw of CRT is motion clarity and lack of latency
>>12779203You don't know what you're talking about, bro. Lurk more.
I use to think N64 games looked like smudgy crap because I spent my whole life playing them on LCD screens. Then I got a CRT and N64 games look sharp as fuck on it. The N64 was built for CRT TVs. It looks like crap on anything else.
>>12779203You need a good brand crt and also component cables with a ps2 looks amazing to this day. The one in your pick is a shit tv thats why
>>12779203OLEDs have input delay, CRTs don't but you're not in the hobby for actually playing vidya from the sounds of things. It seems all you care about is getting an image to take a picture of for brownie points on the Internet.
I found this beauty recently. 13" Trinitron.
>>12779203Maybe don't use a composite only tv for gen 6 consoles then maybe your opinion might change

>>12779203>19" CRT is heavyYou need to start lifting brah
>>12779590He’s right tho.
>>12779650No anon, you are not.
>>12779203>3D isn't anymore "clear" on a CRT.We already had this thread OP. Low effort. Unless you play games without textures and where motion clarity doesn't matter et etc, old 3D games still benefit from CRT screens.
>>12779397>OLEDs have input delayIt's absolutely miniscule these days, specially when using LLM, plus the panel response is instant.
>>12779203Everything up to 6th gen, CRT.6th gen, CRT and Plasma.7th gen, Plasma.
>>12779650>i'm right tho.lol. no.Back to le tiktok for you kiddo.
>>12779510nice wall mounted tate setup
>>12779959It can be tiny but it's still there zoomer.
>>12780217Don't think a few milliseconds is even noticeable in 3D games on a PS2, you might have bigger fluctuations with just slowdowns in the game depending on enemies on the screen, etc. The bigger problem would the the latency an upscaler itself adds like a RetroTink.
>>12779970I agree with CRT but plasma is shit and I know they are going to be the next CRT style thing fucking YouTubers push.If you gotta have a plasma, get one now while they are cheap but they also kinda suck
>>12780257I've been using Plasma since they were current for that. CRT motion and OLED blacks. Specially good if you have a proper 1080p 60Hz set, perfect for PS3/360, etc.
I've also had plasmas since they were new. First TV I bought for my apartment was a new Panasonic plasma. OLED is better in every way. The input lag is crazy even on the really good plasmas. My G6 OLED is great, now to be fair I run everything through a scaler and still play 6th Gen and back on my CRT but with the filters we have these days it's getting harder and harder to justify turning on the CRT unless it's a lightgun game
crt is not superior in any way. Sure has its own benefits but it is not Superior to an upscaler in image quality and it will never be. You're really asking do I want a more authentic but blurrier experience or a less authentic but more sharp experience. You'll never be able to replace the look and feel of playing duck Hunt or super Mario Bros on an OLED like it was on a crt but then you're getting into aesthetics which upscalers are replicating very well now.I still think in OLED looks better and is more practical because crt are basically e waste. They aren't being made anymore. I'm not anti crt but the benefits of them does not outweigh the benefits of an upscaler.I want to CRT for retro games and the authentic experience but don't conflate that with it being better
>>12780714>I still think>never had an original thought in its """life"""lol
>>12780804Sorry but CRTs aren't unique or superior over a retrotink and they are aging fast. They have worse video quality compared to them. If it makes /vr/ seethe that means its correct. They have their place but to say they are superior in image quality is delusional.
>>12780804>>lol>uhh stop seething! lol lmao even

Nothing beats a cathode ray for retro. Pic rel is a Jvc I got for free and fixed up
>>12779203>>12779215it's in the glow of the light. Like how old streetlights would scatter softly instead of harshly beam like modern cheapo ones.
>>12779659>>12780043They are both correct tho.
>>12781036Horrendous background.Shit CRT on a stool.Yup. As expected. This is poser shit. Nothing about this is good. It’s not even about the games.

>>12781254>assuming he did not do five hundred generations to get that stool right.>supporting an AI poster rather than also mocking him/vr/ has called somehow further.
>>12781259The biggest problem with A.I sloppers is they don't even have the slightest will power or skill to load up photoshop and just fix up shit the A.I couldnt achieve. If I gave a shit about anything anymore I would be the mighty unstoppable sloppable kingpin of the A.I meme world.
The stool is not AI. It’s a genuine retro console holding stool. The original seller on eBay said it was used for a Colecovision decades ago.It is therefore a true hardware stool and adds genuine hardware authenticity so the games are better and more true.If you aren’t playing on an antique retro console stool then you aren’t really playing the game as the developers intended and I dare say you didn’t beat the game. You are simply emulating the experience which even if it is 100% the same just isn’t the same.
>>12779215The main draw of CRT is that it makes composite look good.
>>12779203>3D isn't anymore "clear" on a CRT. It just blurring things together, that's itThat's the point. 5th gen and 6th gen games have fullscreen dithering up the arse, so I wouldn't want to play them on a flat panel with HDMI. Hell, even Wii games tend to use a low colour depth and benefit from composite on a CRT.
>>12781352Have fun playing those games if CRTS motion handling was that of a LCD, bet you wouldnt give a shit about composite on CRTs at all without the motion clarity it has
>>12781354>Have fun playing those games if CRTS motion handling was that of a LCDI can play games fine on an LCD. Hope this helps!
>>12781363Did you get lost in the conversation already?lmao
>>12781364Did you? The picture is why I care about CRTs; playing games on LCDs for the past 20 years has made "muh motion clarity" moot to me, never mind that CRTs have smearing of their own.
Ok I can see I'm dealing with a very low IQ person that doesn't know the difference between ghosting and motion blur.Kill yourself retard (hope this helps)
>>12781368>I am dealing with a very low IQ person who doesn't know the difference between the clarity of motion and clarity of motion. Kill yourself retard (hope this helps)
Did you guys know CRT's now have motion blurring? It has come into play just this hour from a time line shift.
>>12781232It's not even a real photo, no clue why he felt the need to use AI for a picture like this
>>12781232>>12781252>>12782278Funny how you miserable faggots got triggered over such a trivial thing. It's my real tv & stand with a generic background swap because it's in my garage currently. I love AI almost as much as CRTs because of how much it bothers you crybaby trannies.
With PS2 a CRT is pretty much required equipment due to the interlacing.Playing Xbox, Dreamcast or Gamecube on a 480i tube is performative though. They are 480p systems meant for LEDs.
>>12782956You can hook up a VGA monitor (or any TV with VGA or VGA to HDMI converter) to a PS2 too and use GSM to play most games in 480p, even ones that officially don't support it.
>>12782961>You can hook up a VGA monitor (or any TV with VGA or VGA to HDMI converter) to a PS2most people tend to forget it was an official thingyou can also just use component and GSM

I don't know what's with the insistence of CRTs not being worthy for the 6th gen, it's the opposite, at least for PS2. Must be some schizo given this board is just people spamming the same shit every day but anyway, 480i looks like fucking crap on modern displays no matter your meme oleds and scalers. 480i needs the aid of a CRT to look good. GC might look good because its catalogue is 480p compatible, but PS2? it needs a CRT to not look like crap, this is non-negotiable. It's even more necessary for 480i than 240p.
>>12783678>>12782961
>>12782964>>12783781If the game doesn't support 480p, you can't get 480p out of it magically with a cable. But whatever helps you sleep.
>>12783853>ignores GSM being mentioned entirely
>>12779203The big advantage of CRTs is their ability to instantly handle switching between 240p/480i, which is very important for Sega Saturn gamesIt's also a lot easier to dick around with aspect ratio settings on a CRT than with many modern flat panels. A surprising amount of retro consoles don't actually output 4:3 but expect you to stretch the image to 4:3 anyways. All of this can easily be done with one of the fancier scalers, but those are expensive and CRTs were once upon a time free to pick from the trash. If I was actually exchanging money for one today, I'd rather grab a scaler than a real CRT.
>>12779203PS2 looks better on my PVM than any BASEDLED

New rule: every post or comment about CRTs should require a time-stamped photo of the ending screen for a game you just beat on it. You must prove that you actually play the games using your hardware. Or else you just get these endless consooomer wankfest threads about how you can totally feel a 10 millisecond increase in lag bro and that's just going to make it impossible to get the full experience on your 40 year old children's toys, so you must buy my $500 boat anchor or else your favorite parasocial eceleb influencer won't think you're cool

>>12779970newer stuff still looks good on crt i use mine for my switch, pic is before i tweaked the colours for my downscaler so theyre a bit off but the video is clear
With most games I'm honestly kind of whatever. CRTs are the absolute way to play DKC though. It's a night and day difference. Those games visuals break on modern displays.
