>Supergrafx, an updated version of the PC Engine with a unique library of six extra games
>The “RAU-30” adaptor. An accessory made JUST for the Supergrafx to connect to the CD addon.

This makes the Sega 32x add on look like a joke. With this it literally plays everything. Hu Cards, Supergrafx, CD Rom versions 2.10, 3.00 and the arcade card games. God I love Japanese autism so much bros
>>
And you could actually have Supergrafx CD games but only homebrew of it has been made. The system has 128k of vram so potentially could have had much closer arcade conversions of Street Fighter 2.

It's missing the Power Console.
The Supergrafx gotta be one of the ugliest and cheapest looking consoles ever designed, though.
>>
>>12784874
For Arcade CD games in that configuration, the Arcade Card Pro is what you'd need. Unless you used the Super CD-ROM^2 attachment to the SuperGrafx, then the Arcade Card Duo is the one to complete that set. However, you can just get a SD-System^3 Pro to attach to any regular PCE/CoreGrafx and you get all that too.

The cat seems ok as I can’t emulate that.
I don’t need the other hardware,

you can, but it's not retro by /vr/ standards

im not getting a fatty cat. and didn't the PCEngine 2 flop and hardly have any games?
>>
>>12785251
Catz was a Win98 game IIRC...

The SuperGrafx is the ultimate and real no games platform though

and by no I mean six (6)

Cat owners are deranged. The cat owns you. You are the pet now. Enjoy your toxoplamosis and cat hair clogged HuCard slots. What a waste.

I just don't understand why it ever happened. Like, you release an upgraded version of your original console which is more expensive, but since the old hardware can play the old games the only reason to buy it would be new games which take advantage of the more powerful hardware....and you don't make any games for it, rendering the whole thing pointless. Oh, and it works with the CD add-on but it doesn't come with the CD add-on and once again you could just use the older and less expensive console because it also works with the CD add-on so there's no upside to buying the new one.

Like, did they just release it because they could? Were there plans for more extensive software support and the they just gave up? It makes no sense at all
>hey everyone, here's a console
>with no games
>we *are* making a bunch of games for the CD add-on
>which you don't need this for

Sega also did wacky shit with the Sega Mega Jet and NEC also did even more retarded shit like the PC Engine PAC addons for the Pioneer Laserdisc.

An Interesting theory I found was this was all done in the 80s and that was the economic boom in Japan before the 90s Asset Bubble so companies had almost unlimited funds to experiment on anything due to speculation that anything they'd release would do well.

nah that's most likely an actual jeet. they hate cats because they are a public health nuisance in their country. there's several on /an/ that do nothing but screech and street shit at the mere sight of a cat thread

Nah dog owners are the fucked up ones
Cats:
>housebreak themselves
>clean themselves regularly
>are chill and quiet most of the time
>are smart enough to be let out of the house without supervision
>can't really be trained to do shit so people don't drag them around in public under the pretense of being "support animals"

Dogs:
>have to be specifically trained not to shit and piss in the house because they're gross and unhygenic
>don't bother cleaning themselves aside from licking their own asshole sometimes because they're gross and unhygenic
>are loud and retarded and go into conniptions that can be heard half a block away any time anything walks by the house or the wind blows or the earth turns
>the pet of choice for emotional cripples who can't go outside without perpetual positive reinforcement form a dumb animal

Cats > Dogs although the real patricians choose fish

The PCE LT actually makes sense, though. It's a console without the need for a separate television. Perfect for people with minimal space. Or who want portability without going full handheld size. I really want one but they're so fucking rare it's a pipe dream and who knows how many of them even still work at this point.

I also bitterly regret not acquiring a turbo express when they were still kind of available but I already had a regular TG16 so it seemed fairly redundant at the time and I was a poor ass college student so it just wasn't practical. Maybe someday
>>
>>12786887
Crazy shit is NEC/TTi had a ton of leftover stock and was still selling Expresses and Duos new in box online into the early 2000s on their Turbo Zone Direct. Shit being treated like a gold brick now..there really was a golden age.

Recently saw a post where someone found an Express for like 5 bucks at a flea market this year, one in a million find.

It used to be that you could pillage yard sales and even secondhand shops that didn't specialize in video games because there was no assumption of rarity and you had to be an actual gamer to recognize the diamonds in tne rough. I got a copy of Marvel vs Capcom 2 from my local lawn shop for like $5 because they just priced all old PS2 games the same .

But now everyone's wise to the act and even if they don't know if something's valuable a quick google search will tell them. The reseller era is bullshit. Yeah, I hunted for good deals and rare finds, but because I wanted the thing itself, not to flip it for a profit
>>
>>12786967
Last terrific find I made, and the best, was a copy of Snatcher Sega CD at a flea market for $5 some years ago back then and luckily I still have it too. Got a $10 Vectrex back then as well.
>>
>>12786307
Yeah the Supergrafx was doomed from the start. Like the Commodore 128, the advantages it has over its predecessor are pretty minimal, so there was little reason to make dedicated software for it when one could instead make games that are compatible with both the SuperGrafx and the already widely adopted PCE.

Do you actually have a functional sega cd to use it with or did you just buy it out of principle because you knew it was underpriced?
>>
>>12787129
It was already worth a few hundred even back then so it was going in the collection regardless of having a sega cd, which I still don't have as they are too fucking expensive. Reminds me of seeing a JVC X'EYE used in EB for like $75 in the late 90s, one that got away but not as bad as the brand new copy of Magic Knight Rayearth seen in the same EB then for $50, wish I had that as I do have a Saturn and would be cool to have another Snatcher tier rarity.
>>
>>12785436
>PCEngine 2 flop and hardly have any games
This is correct regardless of which PCEngine 2 you mean
>>
>>12786869
Dogs bark at and bite intruders. They protect children too. Cats just use your resources.
>>
>>12787240
Cats control vermin like rats and mice.
>>
>>12787221
>Sega CD
>Expensive
I just check Ebay and I'm sincerely shocked. I thought only Nintendo shit went up (and super duper rare other stuff). I thought they were like, 100 CAD at most, but they're triple that. When the hell did that happen? It definitely wasn't in the 2010's when all the Nintendo stuff jumped up in price. It must be recent. Playing Snatcher with the Sega lightgun would be pretty kick ass.
>>
>>12787246
NTA, but dogs do that as well, arguably better than cats. Terriers were literally bred expressively to get mice and rats and whatnot.

dogs are tools. they are used for a lot of things including but not limited to drug/bomb detection, hunting, house alarm, etc...
cats are real pets. they are with you because they want to. if they are also pest control is a bonus, they are no tool.

>>12787687
That's right, because cat owners are tools.

>>
>>12787773
they look like you just woke them up from a nap and they're annoyed
>>
>>12787773
It was awesome at the time. My first CD console. I had the Turbografx for about 6 months in the early 90s and quickly realized that all the cool games were on CD, so I traded it in to get the Duo and some games for it. Started buying music CDs to play on it too since I didn't have a CD audio player yet.
>>
>>12787240
>Dogs bite intruders.
90% of people's pet dogs aren't biting shit, they only work as alarms (which people ignore anyway because they "alarm" at nothing most of the time)
>>
>>12787584
this one retro game streamer that's huge into obscure japanese PC games will buy copies of the games in japan but then emulate when streaming them. a little weird but practically necessary since manuals for a lot of those games are nowhere online.
