I find it interesting how the two highest rated Zelda games (which are also two of the highest rated games of all time) started out as remakes of the NES/Famicom games.Breath of the Wild started out as a remade of Zelda 1, and Ocarina of Time started out as a remake of Zelda 2.And if course each game turned out wildly different from the NES originals, but it's still interesting.

>>12785872And Breath of the Wild wasn't intended as a full 3d remake of Zelda 1. But both games began their prototype phases as 3d recreations of those two games.
>Breath of the Wild Not retro
No surprise that the first was the best. Talk about peaking early. Nintendo has only gone downhill since then.Wake me up when AAA gaming realizes that they regret having lost their way.
>>12787431Wind Waker was the best
>>12787441Agreed, but no one else does

It's a win-win when you succeed, you capitalize on nostalgia, you bring in newcomers who all will champion your series. Aonuma tried to remake Zelda 1 with Wind Waker and he failed fyi
