I remember some hype around this because of Crave having former Square USA employees and Ted Woolsey. I was a big fan of Secret of Evermore so I was interested back when it was new. Never actually played it though, I should give it a try finally.

Sounds like some of the schizos who post here…

I had this back in the day and enjoyed it, but never finished it. It really does feel like the handicapped love child of FF7 and Earthbound. Like it wears its heavy ps1 final fantasy inspiration on the surface, but it also has bizarre elements like mime enemies, a robot man disco and a floating wizard head party member. There is also a point where the 6 member party gets split up into smaller groups of three, with the cover guy getting the two side bitches and the weirdo characters getting their own group. It let you swap back and forth between parties to complete their respective tasks and i think i recall one group staying on the overworld and the other exploring a subterranean region thar opens up later. I do remember having to swap back to disc 1 anytime you return to the surface world.

this game deserves to be remembered as the definitive proof that ted woolsey is a talentless hack
