>>12786845better than the shitty gaycube demake, that’s for sure
bogs your favorite re game
>>12786845based. i wish picrel version had a translation patch. it's apparently the least censored version.

>>12786845Why didn't they just land on the helicopter pad that was at the end of the game?
>>12787102>opens fire at your helicopter
>>12786908RE games are easy to play in Japanese if you've played then in English before
>>12787754i don't know them by heart and it's still sad it was never done
>>12786845It's too bad there was never an RE1 mod in the 2 or 3 engine. The remake probably killed any incentive for such a thing.
directors cut (NON DUAL SHOCK!!!!) is the best version of this game. you can unlock the infinite ammo magnum even if you use the double ammo cheat. great fun game to play in one night or afternoon while being real cozy
>>12788206Which version is the one on GOG? I picked up all 3 games there recently. Does it at least have the original soundtrack? The last time I played RE1 was on the PS3 and the version available there had that shitty soundtrack with the farting trumpets
>>12786845I'm playing the steam version at the moment. I remember liking deadly silence and for some reason thought this would be more jank but the whole thing is fantastic.
>>12788339This series became one of the biggest in gaming for a reason, the first game is really good and absolutely blew away anything on the Playstation or Saturn at the time. If you want jank try Alone In the Dark. Resident Evil may have borrowed heavily from that game but it did everything so much better
>>12788398I grew up watching my dad play these games, i was like 5/6 when i first saw it. The first zombie gave me nightmares for weeks. So I just had this perception of it from back then and hearing people say how hard it is compared to 2 etc. I think it's fantastic, it's nice and short and super satisfying. I also burst out laughing at all the old quotes. I'm going onto 2 and 3 after I've done one more run with Chris was gonna no save it the first time but had to do shit so had to save in lab. I've played them before but I want to go through them to see what my favourite is.I had the same perception of parasite eve until i played that and It's now one of my favourite games.
director cut arrange mode is even better, you really need to be cautious in terms of ressource management
>>12787102They didn't know about the mansion, they were just there to investigate the forest and search for Bravo Team.Even if they'd known it was there, who the fuck is going to go>oh yeah let's just land our helicopter in this guy's backyard I'm sure he'll be cool with it
>>12788685I only recently found out that Director's Cut had an arrange mode after decades of playing the original, it was like playing it all over again. It's great.

>>12788471Something else to keep in mind if you were really young or maybe not even born when it came out in 1996 is that pop culture wasn't completely saturated with zombies at the time. The last big zombie movie was a remake of Night of the Living Dead in 1990. They were still fairly novel and treated as comedy relief monsters half the time they did make an appearance. It'd be kind of like a game coming out today that heavily featured mummies as a serious threat that blew the fuck up in popularity.
