I’ve always found the original PS1 controller more charming than the one with DualShock analog sticks everyone knows.

It makes you feel like you’re playing a more powerful SNES with full 3D polygonal graphics.

It does look cool, but the dual shock looks just as cool or better. And has more features. (Rumble, and dual analog of course) (also a red LED )

Why don’t your marry it then? Why don’t you slide your cock around the area between the handles?

It helps that 99% of the PS1’s library was made entirely with d-pad controls in mind with the 1% exception being Ape Escape.

Otherwise, analog controls were more of an optional bonus/afterthought until the PS2.

Yeah the playstation sticks always gave me uncanny valley, not sure why, it doesn't look good.
Also I prefer the original japanese pad, the longer prongs on the western one also looks not as good as picrel.

The OG PS1 controller is still my favorite pad to this day. Love using it for almost anything gen 1-5.

Me too, I use it for most things and this despite the select and start buttons being broken and not repairable. Also using a PS2 pad with the same USB adaptor gives me input lag compared to PSX pads.

Because dual analog sticks are modern and not retro therefore not charming.
>>
The dualshock doesn't just add sticks to the controller, there are a number of dimension changes as well to the shell.

Analog was such a game changer for racing games, though the negcon or a real wheel reign supreme.
>>
I never liked what they did to the L2 and R2. I've never seen an original controller with a broken shoulder button but I remember multiple occasions when I had the pleasure use a broken dualshock controller at friend's house.

Modern trigger buttons are somehow even worse. Sure they might be fun for driving games but for everything else they're just fucking miserable to use.

made for tiny asian hands

I believe tap tap tap buttons on the old controller for racing is more precise than analog sticks and triggers.

That’s literature what you’re doing

This is why I only use controllers with trigger locks these days.

I remember having a much easier time with fighting game diagonal inputs using the original controller's D-pad vs the Dual Shock and later versions. Maybe I'm just overhypying it in my memory since I don't actually have one anymore, but I still think of it as having one of the best D-pads ever.

I have a special spot in my heart for the OG controller. It was very comfortable and I have many fond memories of playing rented PS1 jank until sunrise using it.
>>
God I remember having this thing in my hands.

Felt so weird without the sticks.

ive never tried one without the analog sticks, what makes it more charming exactly you can still use the dpad on dualshock? dualshock 1/2/3 are my favorite controllers to this day though. i use my ds3 on pretty much
