>Horrendous slowdown on the first level
Why did Capcom release this? This is garbage. Did gamers just not care back then?
>>
Old developers had deadlines too
>>
just overclock the cpu in the emulator settings and stfu
>>
They used SlowROM for the final release, but the game was likely designed around FastROM. With the FastROM hack the game plays much better.
>>

There are rom hacks that fix it for this game and several others with this issue

t. faggot

Console performance was kind drowned outvidya hype machine was running at full steam. I rememeber playing DOOM on an outdated PC that got maybe 15-20fps (which was about the same as dooms console ports at the time) and it had me and my friends in complete awe.

I rememebr QUAKE being the first game I played that had store ads mentioning "high frame rates" and "polygon count"

>Why did Capcom release this? This is garbage.
That's just SNES. That's the best it could do.
>2.68 mhz
Fucking embarrassing.
>>

do not reply to the "2.68 mhz"/"japanese horse racing shovelware" guy. he exists to derail.

>>12789048
didn't
beat
the
game
>>
>overclocking existed in emulators for years on end
>people finally got around to patching it to be FastROM
>literally no reason to play it with slowdown for over a decade or two now
>OP: WHAT THE FUCK WHY IS THERE SLOWDOWN?!?!?
I'm pretty sure I'm just as disappointed in OP as his parents are.
>>
>>12789048
Typically games from that era use some heuristic to decide if a frame is going to take longer to process than 1 frame then actively divide the work across multiple frames in software. It's programmed behavior. You'd need to actually edit the rom to change that before CPU overclocking could do anything.
>>
>>12789045
I used to refer to it as "action slow down"

Doom on 386 was dope

I didn't really care that much. Stunt Race FX was one I think that was annoyingly slow to the point it's almost unplayable, but I still played through it all anyway.
>>
People liked the SNES game better than Megadrive back then, this is just a sample, if you search you'll find other people complaining the Megadrive game is too easy.
See also comments about the slowdowns being minimal.

of course people suck at games now so they find excuses to say that, "actually this hard game sucks, it has nothing to do with me being bad at the game", which is how the perception that the MD version is better started
>>
>>12789162
It's his thread.
>>
>>12789045
The slowdown is fine, and it helps you dodge in tight situations. Its basically like those moments in life when you see stuff move in slow motion, just baked into the game.
>>
>>12789045
>>12789664
Yep. It's SOVLdown, not slowdown.

They had no choice. It was either release it on an underpowered 2.68mhz console or get blacklisted by the Nintendo yakuza.

back then, we were grateful to be able to play the last big thing, we were as demanding as comatose submissive carpets.
that's not even counting the amounts of shovelware we pretended to enjoy because they were expensive.
