As for the window position, might be it's trying to place it where I had it on my own setup (I have a 1440p monitor). First, check if there's an option that says "Keyboard requires capture" under the Action tab in the top-left corner, check it, and make sure the mouse isn't captured (i.e. you can't move it in the emulated machine). Now press Alt + Tab, and a context window should pop up. Click on "Move", and you should be able to move the window with the mouse.If the keyboard capture option isn't there, what you can do alternatively is hover your mouse on the 86Box icon in the taskbar, then right-click on the thumbnail of the 86Box window that will appear after a second, and the aforementioned context menu should pop up, allowing you to move the window with the mouse.

Friendly reminder that disabling a CPU's cache can drop P2/P3 and even P4 systems down to 486 speeds performance-wise. A 366MHz Celeron with cache disabled in BIOS is slightly faster than a 486DX-33MHz to slower than a Pentium 100MHz according to benchmarks, which is more or less the sweet-spot for VGA/SVGA era DOS gaming. Will run Quake in software mode at 320x200 at about 18FPS without the cache, and at over 70FPS with the cache.Also friendly reminder to avoid updating BIOS on old hardware. They didn't use dual-BIOS or design to be recovered from BIOS flash failures, so if writing to that old flash memory fails, the board is bricked. Unless shit is not working now and a BIOS update is your only hope, don't bother.Also, whoever said SHSUCDX and XCDROM and other modern low-RAM DOS CD-ROM driver solutions don't work on real hardware, was full of shit. I've got it working on my Socket 370 system, and it works flawlessly. With a fucking DVD drive no less. Works just as well as it does in 86Box.

>>12797580Yep. Also using UHDD instead of SMARTDRV since it only uses 1kb of conventional instead of 20ish+ or whatever the fuck SMARTDRV sucks down. UHDD instead uses XMS for drive caching. Even with EMS386 acting weird about trying to push SHSUCDX and XCDROM into upper RAM, I just leave them in conventional and still have 614k free.God I love modern drivers for DOS, and how low-RAM they are. No more dicking around with a collection of bootdisks with different configs to get the RAM I need to play games. I can just have one single config that runs 90-95% of games without issues. A lone run of MEMMAKER to setup himem.sys, then another after all drivers have been installed, and you're golden.

Basic stuff really, I'm using a SB16 Value, so there is no driver or TSR or anything, just the SET BLASTER environment variable and a quick run of diagnose to make sure DOS sees the card. HIMEM, EMM386 set to use the monochrome region for more RAM, SHSUCDX, XCDROM(was using UDVD2, might go back to it, dunno), CTMOUSE, ZANSI, UHDD, and I was in the process of switching from COMMAND.COM to 4DOS when things got glitched.I'll be posting up the config.sys and autoexec.bat plus the full mem /c /p once I get it back up and running.

If the performance is good, I'll certainly include it in the next version. We're already well past the focus of the pack being just about retro PC games.
