>NES is a barely upgraded Colecovision which is on life support from a myriad of chips from day 1
>Designer of the Gameboy admits himself that it's outdated and weak "withered technology"
>SNES is crippled by a laughably slow CPU and shitty sprite capabilities, it can't handle any of the popular action genres of the era
>N64 uses cartridges despite CDs being popular, it can't run popular RPG and adventure genres of the era because of this, also games look worse and run at a lower FPS
>Gameboy Colour is a barely upgraded Gameboy and not even technically superior to other colour handhelds from a decade prior
>GameCube uses crippled minidisc format, it can't handle popular open world games of the era because of this, and the games are often uglier and have poor lighting
>Gameboy Advanced releases the same year as another handheld which is literally 10 times faster than it
What were the long term ramifications of Nintendo being a market leader yet never even trying to push the technology forward? Was everyone being held back because of this? Would we had a much better gaming era through the 80's and 90's if Sony came in earlier and pushed more advanced hardwares?
And why do people act like Nintendo only started doing this with the Wii?
>>
Gaming is better when tech progress is slower.
>>
Not a single one of your points has any impact on how fun a game is.
>>
>>12796156
the only real point you have is the n64 cartridge, that was a horrific blunder by nintendo that devastated the company. the snes's cpu was unfortunate but nintendo's focus on slower non arcade oriented games mostly hid it.
every other point you make could be handwaved by the design/production limitations of devs lagging behind hardware capability. or a segment where consumer access and ease were obviously the most important factors i.e. handhelds.

Surprised OP didn't mention the WonderSwan in his rant
>>
wtf i hate nintendo now

If you cared about technical ability you wouldn't be playing retro games

Muh hardware means shit, what matters are the fucking games

People had fun for a reasonable price?
>>
>>12796160
This. Also Nintendo is in the business of making games aimed at kids, it's sticking to cheap technology that let them be as successful as they are.
>>

>GameCube [...] games are often uglier and have poor lighting
care to name some?

>retard makes yet another retarded thread
Stop bumping this shit
>>
>>12796178
I'm honestly glad the n64 stuck with carts in the long run, but Nintendo could have done better to support devs.

>Gameboy Advanced releases the same year as another handheld which is literally 10 times faster than it
??? Are you actually thinking of the DS vs. the PSP here?

This is an Indian ragebait thread, but let me fancy you.
Nintendo's plan always was to focus on low-powered, few years old technology. The point was to give developers familiar environment and players the affordable consoles.
Hilariously they tried to chase the trends with Gamecube and it actually backfired because all that power meant nothing with relatively small library of games and high price.

>Nintendo's plan always was to focus on low-powered, few years old technology

Nope Iwata fags rewriting history like always

Nintendo home console before the Wii were always powerfull/cutting edge technology
almost every 8 Bits computers game has jerky and awfull scrolling when the Famicom has a flawless and fluid 8 direction scrolling in 1983
>>
>>12796156
>Gameboy Advanced releases the same year as another handheld which is literally 10 times faster than it
Are talking about the psp? Dumbass
>>
and yet basically every piece of nintendo hardware up through the DS had at least one of the best games ever made on it, until the retarded direction they took with the wii ruined that

power means nothing if your devs are too focused on flexing with it instead of making a good game. even DKC, a game made to show off graphics, is a series renowned for being some of the best platformers out there because gameplay was still the true focus in spite of everything.

mario 64 was made while fully exploring the potential of controlling a character in 3D and making every aspect of doing so fun, the limitations of the cartridge format forced them to make the stages laser-focused playgrounds full of something interesting every step. fast forward to mario odyssey, a game trying to replicate 64's magic but with the limitations removed, and you have them making awful huge stretches of nothing to show off how big the world is and throwing you a moon every 2 seconds to collect because wow look how many there are, instead of trying to make each one an accomplishment.
>>
>>12797003
The gamecube wasnt cutting edge in any way.
>>
>>12797129
It was pretty powerful and compact. It had the handle so you could carry it over to a friends house for local multiplayer in the 5th gen. tradition. Not groundbreaking but the compactness served that purpose.
>>
>>12796156
They marketed it towards children and parents who saw vidya as just toys for children, teenagers and nerdy adults (normie adults didn't play vidya) gravitated towards the more powerful consoles. Today Nintendo thrives off of brand loyalty from adults who were raised on the older consoles.
>>
>>12797146
>pretty powerful
Not compared to anything that actually was powerful and it had no unique hardware. Congrats in having a fucking handle though lmao.
>>
>>12797179
Wasn't the processor faster than PS2 by a considerable margin?
>>
>>12797003
>Nintendo home console before the Wii were always powerfull/cutting edge technology
Anon, I don't know if you've heard...but the Mega Drive and PC Engine both were about three times faster than SNES, despite being 2 and 3 years older and much cheaper hardware.
>almost every 8 Bits computers game has jerky and awfull scrolling
It's funny how you had to deflect to computers, and then you're still wrong because the C64 is more capable than the NES and it doesn't need expansion chips, this is despite the C64 being a year older.
>>12796532
>>12797105
Retarded larpers have never heard of the GP32.
>>
>>12797304
>has a handful of games and was limited to corea and small parts of yurop
real popular handheld that one, very well known.
>>
>>12797308
Does any of that matter at all you gay little shit? It's a handheld, it's nearly 10 times faster than GBA, cope harder faggot.
>>
>>12797327
And no one gives a shit about it because it has no games
>>
Take your meds, grandpa
>>
>>12797327
What is your favorite GP32 game, and what is your favorite GBA game?
>>
>>12797327
>>12797347
>>12797418
It didn't have games, nor was it meant to be an actual console. It was an emulation machine, basically a proto-chinkheld.
>>
>>12797304
>Anon, I don't know if you've heard...but the Mega Drive and PC Engine both were about three times faster than SNES, despite being 2 and 3 years older and much cheaper hardware.

And they games look drab af unlike the SNES with ultra inferior sound with no sample

>It's funny how you had to deflect to computers, and then you're still wrong because the C64 is more capable than the NES and it doesn't need expansion chips, this is despite the C64 being a year older.

It's so capable that's there is literally 0 good action game on this platforme because it's can't handle too many sprite or a fluid scrolling
>>
>>12797290
PS2 released much earlier.
Gamecube was competing for second place with the comparably released Xbox which was more powerful by a considerable margin.
>>
>>12797963
Xbox is a PC running Windows, not a console.
