What’s the closest thing to an “imsim” before PCs were invented

As a certified crazy fuck autist who got obsessed with Rogue as a kid even though all I had was a bootleg DOS file with no instructions and it was near impossible, it's also the one game I wanted to truly kick the ass of for many years, till I finally did.
>>
>before PCs were invented
I don't know, teletype adventure shit, DnD, actually doing shit IRL?
>>
>>12796827
>before PC's were invented
PC's predated consoles, so I have no idea what the fuck you're trying to say here.
>>
Is this an Auster spam thread?
>>
>>12796961
But Rogue was a PC game?
>>
>>12797313
I'm assuming he means IBM PC compatibles
>>
>>12797383
Okay, that still predates most consoles. 1981 is when they released their 5150 Personal Computer. And "immersive sims" would date back to stuff like Zork and Colossal Cave Adventure, which again, predates most consoles, and the IBM PC, while the first "true" immersive sim would be Ultima Underworld, again, a PC game.

OP is either a complete fucking retard, or a bad faith weeb shill, which we've been getting a lot of the last few months.

I've been seeing more and more completely retarded and nonsensical posts recently and I'm pretty sure it's just bait

Dungeon Master, released in 1987, already introduced several elements that would later define immersive sims.

Yeah it's Dungeon Master or one of the late 80s Ultima games (probably Ultima V or VI) for their environmental interactivity.
>>
>>12797353
Rogue was originally written for minicomputers running Unix in 1980, the IBM PC version came later.
>>
>>12797789
The first Personal Computer released in 1971, retard.

>Rogue was originally written for minicomputers running Unix in 1980, the IBM PC version came later.
Cool, so Rogue was originally written for personal computers, so we're in agreement.

That does not qualify it as an immersive sim, dipshit. Dungeon Master is a real-time, first-person, systemic dungeon crawler. Ultima Underworld is a systemic simulation designed around player agency. It was largely the first game of its kind, which created the simulated world of a dungeon. Dungeon Master is just another dungeon crawler.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultima_Underworld:_The_Stygian_Abyss

>Ultima Underworld is considered the first example of an immersive sim, a genre that combines elements from other genres to create a game with strong player agency and emergent gameplay, and has influenced many games since its release
>>
>>12798221
minicomputers aren't personal computers and op said PC which today implies IBM PC or compatibles, not personal computers in general. Or do you also get mad about aweful and awesome having different meanings nowadays?
>>
>>12798219
What PC was that, retard
>>
>>12798237
Kenbak-1, "retard".
>>
>>12798234
>which today implies IBM PC or compatibles
No it doesn't. Personal computers predated IBM PC's by a decade.
>>
>>12796961
Not even anywhere close to being an imsim.
>>
>>12798256
Yes but using the abbreviation PC implies IBM PC or IBM PC compatibles.
>>
>>12798263
No it doesn't.

https://archive.org/details/CC517_commodore_64

Computer Chronicles referred to the Commodore 64 as a personal computer back in 1988, referring to it as "the Model T of personal computers".

You have no idea what the fuck you're talking about.
>>
>>12798268
Again, OP didn't write "Personal Computer", he wrote "PC", which today has a different meaning.
>>
>>12798227
Have you even played Dungeon Master, or do you just rely on Wikipedia? It was fucking revolutionary, with mechanics and environmental interaction years ahead of its time. It directly influenced Ultima Underworld, so calling it a proto-immersive sim is hardly a stretch.
>>
>>12798219
So basically the answer is some board game or doing shit irl, and isn't really vidya related.

Probably playing Cowboys and Indians in your backyard but you have no friends so you pretend your dog is the bad guy. I don't know, what's the closest thing to a video game before tvs were invented
>>
>>12798424
It came out after the television, but Strat-O-Matic Baseball is pretty close to a video game and that came out in the 60s.

>Exile
Really cool game with very advanced physics model for its time.
>>
>>12798251
We're talking about PCs, retard
>>
>>12798463
People here do not understand the difference between PC and personal computer. The world would be a slightly less confusing place if IBM had used a more original name.

Actually Hudson invented the PC. And by Hudson I now mean Konami of course.

Jesus fuck I hate this term so much

Yes it does. You are wrong, and moreover you knew what OP meant and decided to be a nitpicking faggot anyway.
>>
>>12798675
Hudson invented the Engine but not the PC.
>>
>>12799975
I swear it is the same faggot from last weeks 10-day zelda thread, who kept comparing it to old computer games that he only discovered last tuesday. He is severely autistic wiki warrior and will bicker with a dozen people while googling "evidence" and takes everything 100% literally.
Its not auster but someone else, someone possibly worse.

Probably. The funny thing is the game was a marginal success, but the dev realized he could repurpose the engine into a realistic home modeling/design simulator program, which turned him into a millionaire when Hollywood began using it.
>>
>>12802263
What a small world. Brian dePalma and Penn and Teller have probably played this game.

PCs didn't exist until the mid 90s. You're mistaking computers with personal computers...
