I don't know where exactly to post this but treating Halo as a sequel or pseudosequel to Marathon would that make the Arbiter a playable admiral Tfear who in this timeline realised the nature of the W'rkncacnter and rebelled against the Hindmost Creche to work with the security officer? I've never seen anyone say the Arbiter and Tfear are basically to the same.

The number of timelines is Infinity, you just see the perspective of several of them.
