If you've only played the PAL version, you didn't beat the game.
I think it's insane how Mario Kart and F-zero ever used a "PAL conversion" rule in time trials, allowing people to literally play a slower and easier version of a game and submit times to a worldwide scoreboard.
>>12798953credits rolled, ergo i beat the game. cope and seethe.
>>12798985By that logic me watching the credits in a playthrough means I beat it, therefore you. Did. Not. Beat. The. Game.Seethe harder.
>>12798953>Hurrrr durrr you didn't beat the le gameWrong board fag
>>12799181I shouldn't have to clarify this but since I try not to be mean to people with Down's Syndrome I'll go ahead and do it:As a result of my own inputs on the controller and without the use of glitches or exploits that skip any of the game's content, the credits rolled, therefore I beat the game.
PAL is no pal of mine, friend
If you played the NTSC version of SMB, you played the slower version
>They didn't bother fixing the most annoying thing, the black bordersAnother case of a why did you even bother doing anything at all? Glad SEGA finally put the foot down with the Dreamcast and told them 50/60hz selector from here on.Resident Evil PAL Saturn is another rather comical example, they did not optimize it in any shape or form except the cutscenes which are tuned for 50hz.
>>12799589>Resident Evil PAL Saturn is another rather comical example, they did not optimize it in any shape or form except the cutscenes which are tuned for 50hz.That's every PAL Resident Evil and you'd understand why they had to do something for the cutscenes if you knew how games worked. Audio files from a disc aren't affected, they play at the intended speed regardless.
>>12799602>Audio files from a disc aren't affected, they play at the intended speed regardless.Yeah I kind of forgot about this
>>12799602Cutscene audio and video being separate things is an issue that affects much much later games as well.Notably it's a massive problem on the original Xbox where a surprisingly large amount of the PAL library has completely fucked cutscenes with audio sync issues in 60hz mode, while the gameplay itself supports 60hz just fine. The properly done conversions include both NTSC and PAL cutscenes separately on the disc, though understandably sometimes there just wasn't space for it.
The easiest solution to all of this would have been introducing 50/60hz selector through the console itself, by fifth gen at least.
>>12799580'murican Mario's weighed down carrying double the amount of gold, so it's not a fair comparison.
>>12798953PAL Mario Bros on NES is better than NTSC Mario Bros on NES.
>>12801315Just for clarification, I'm talking about the ORIGINAL Mario Bros without "Super" in the title. PAL Classic Series has larger sprites and retains the icicles while the NTSC original's sprites are anemic and have no icicles whatsoever. (There's also mid-air jump control, if that puts you off.)
>>12799702You mean weighed down carrying double the amount of fat.
>>1279895350Hz optimization was always a mistake. Slower but correct is always preferable to faster but a broken mess. Its mathematically impossible to optimize a 60hz game for 50hz without some kind of compromise. Black bars should be fixed on 50hz though. Its stupid how many 50Hz "optimized" games never fixed the one thing that is actually compromise free to fix.
