How do I break the stranglehold nostalgia has on the games I remember fondly and really separate the wheat from the chaff?

>>12801547If you have some free time, the best way to do this would be trying to make a game yourself.Nothing gives you more perspective on why games are made a certain way than actually developing one and realizing and dealing with all the issues that every other game creator has struggled with over the years.It doesn't have to necessarily be a big game; even a short little project in Twine or Renpy or RPG Maker will teach you a whole lot. You'll start to appreciate all kinds of things you never noticed before, and gain a firmer foundation to be critical of games when they're flawed.
