>>12801841I believe they only work on a modded 3ds
not really sure the nova is all it's cracked up to be. shit is hardly smaller than the rp6 with only a marginally smaller screen
TechDweeb won.
>>12801903being 4:3 is all the difference. Widescreen was a mistake.
>>12801903You think if you repeat this mantra enough times you'll stop wanting to buy the lighter, narrower, plastic only, more spaced out button layout, superior chinkheld?
This will definitely be the first and last time I ever buy a handheld outside of amazon. I can't believe I'm going to end up waiting over a month just to get a nova. Shit should've been here within a week or less like everything good in life.
>>12801942I'm with you, man. Mine took like 29 days from when I ordered.Pure bull.
>>12801942Retroid's probably only got a small warehouse or fulfilment team, or they've got a continuous stock supply they're working through. It's not unusual for delivery from China to take ages, this was unusual for the shipment to take so long.Delivery itself I think is only gonna take about a week tops.
>>12801903The RP6 is bad for retro, even if it's better for modern games. The only thing the Nova is worse at is PSP. Everything else is better. No widescreen hacks, GBA is a sensible size, every console fits the screen well. If you go 16:9, get something bigger like the Portal so you can actually see modern game elements. Otherwise, 4:3 (or even 3:2) is way better. Also, small differences in size can be huge in both comfort and portability. Sites like Retro Catalog don't tell the whole story because they use basic dimensions, when most handhelds aren't shaped like a rectangular box. For example, I have both a Nova and a Flip 2. Retro Catalog says the Nova is 14% bigger, but it feels and looks smaller. The Flip 2 has a larger widest point and is a solid brick all around, while most of the Nova is much thinner than the thinnest point on the Flip 2.
>>12801954>this was unusual for the shipment to take so long.>>12801942 and >>12801947 are right, fulfillment is unacceptably slow. If you preordered, the claimed shipping time was end of July. I ordered in June, day 1, and didn't get mine until 2 days ago. That's a huge delay that they didn't communicate about. Or if you order normally now, you have to be part of the "community" to know what to expect. Their storefront claims a number of colors are in stock, but in reality you might wait a month or more for your order to ship. It's dishonest, there should be a banner saying it's a preorder somewhere.I'd go as far as saying there's an argument for returning to funding platforms like Indiegogo, where this sort of delay is expected and more transparent. If an item is listed in your storefront, it should either ship immediately or be out of stock until it's ready.
>>12801964Also there was the FOMO that the price was gonna go up
Do I spent $100 to buy a new PSP battery, fix up the shell, get a new battery cover, find a charger for it, get a new memory card, download and setup games or just play my chinkheld?
>>12801978Depends on what chinkheld you have. The ones which are $100+ are more capable than a PSP. Even the ones that are $50-$80 are more feature-rich when it comes to emulation despite being unable to play almost any 3D PSP game.
>>12801983I got a RP5
>>12801985You can throw the PSP into the nearest trash can.
>>12802005nta, but I also have an RP5 and the only PSP game I tried on it was the Cave Story port for a few minutes and it had horrible slow down. I can't imagine it would be able to play proper 3d any better.
$200 odin 2 portal flash sale when
>>12802009User error, SD865 is more than enough for PSP.
>>12802009Something is terribly wrong with your device or emulator. There's no shot a PSP game is slowing down on a Snapdragon 865. My 9 year old Snapdragon 845 phone can run PSP games at 4x resolution and still has enough breathing room for fast-forwarding.Reset your PPSSPP settings to stock and just adjust the display resolution to 4x. Don't fuck around with other things if you have no idea what you're doing.

>>12801936Shillspeak lmao!>>12801956>Its bad for retro becuz... UUuuuuuuuuh????>Implying any retroon is comfortable. Much less fit in a pocketHere comes the redditroid cope
>>12802009Try the android port.>>12802026He didn't imply he messed with his ppsspp settings. Its more likely it just didn't play nice that particular homebrew
>>12801903That screen on that body it would fit the sticks at a diagonal and have room for usb ports and extra tf card slots. Put the Batma™ curves and a wide screen on a metal flap and hinge and you've got something nearly Endgame™
>>12802073Android port doesn't have proper controller support. I ended up using the retroarch core.
>>12802070Don't think we can't see what you're doing. You're as repetitive as the Thor owners trying to convince themselves they didn't make a mistake.
So I only have a miyoo mini plus with onion os and an anbernic rg353v with emulationstation/retroarch os i run ark os or the stock forgot which. Can I upgrade os to play ps2? I remember I got it to work on the android side but not on the retroarch side. I can play up to psx n64 dreamcast and psp for now
>>12802136>"We">Thinks I'd waste my time with a retroid product>>128021533566 so I'm pretty sure only 2d shoot eps and maximo would run well
please for the love of god bring back slider pads on pocketable handhelds I'm begging you chinks
>>12802192Surprisingly, chinks want this too. Its mostly because they don't like most chinkheld sticks in the first place DOUGH
>>12802009Erm, I'm not sure you understand how little processing power it takes to emulate psp there chief.
My device is coming in tomorrow, I'm completely new to all this, what should I do to prepare? Put ROMs and BIOS in an organized folder to transfer them onto the microSD?
>>12802226Assuming you're talking about Retroid Pocket Nova, give this a watch.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lD4LYUrVgMOr just read the written guide.https://retrogamecorps.com/2022/01/16/retroid-pocket-2-starter-guide/
>>12801903>hardly smallerwrong, that much taken off the biggest dimension is an absolutely massive difference in sizetoo bad it has shitty stacked shoulders which means cancer lumps on the back making it even more unpocketable than it already would be at its nominal dimensionsand too bad it's lagdroidand too bad it's cuckolednowhere near endgame, retroon has never had the plot
>>12801903yeah it's mid just wait for the retroid ds which from the sound of it is just gonna be a better thor
Do people use these game launchers (i.e. ES-DE) as their main and only launcher? I'm on the RP6 but only really feel like I can do everything properly by running a standard Android launcher.
Pink or GC handheld? Which is worse?
>>12802431DMG
>>12802365What do you mean? I've never used ES-DE specifically, but I assume you can still launch apps and open android settings without going back to the default android desktop.
Hm, I think I don't need any other handhelds other than this...
https://mangmi.com/products/mangmi-air-xI think I'm gonna get this one, can anyone that owns it give some feedback?
>>12802497What's with the off-center display though?Bordering doesn't necessarily bug me but an off-center image sure as fuck would.
>>12802226Yea keep a roms folder and a bios folder on your computer. You can transfer files by plugging the device via usb cable or using a sd card when you plug it in android will ask if you want to enable file transfer. When you get your device install retroarch, in retroarch there is a menu setup for directories and point the "system" directory to your bios folder (or move the contents of bios folder to where retroarch says is the system directory) then you can import content I usually use "manual scan" set up each system, sometimes you have to experiment some systems you toggle searching inside archives sometimes not, to get psx games to import properly I set the filetype filter to only search for cue files, such as if your psx games are in .bin and .cue format.
>>12801823are 12gb of ram enough to emulate switch gaem?what about indie PC games? maybe some dark souls 3...
>buy chink handheld>weeks pass>no shipping notification>message themguys, how fucked am I?
>>12802508Oh, that's how I have my GB and GBC set up for now.I'm experimenting. But I'm not really feeling the borders, honestly.
>>12802565>Bezels on OLEDEnjoy your burn in
FUCK, launching anything from ES-DE just blackscreens and crashes, wtf did I do wrong
>>12802128it got controller support in the latest update
>>12802365also got a rp6 and i tried to use es-de as the main launcher, but android just doesn't work like a console os and relies on having more functionalityi run lawnchair and just launch emulators directly from the home screen
>>12802340This isn't the 2s. You can put troonix on retroon handhelds now ya dingaling tingasting.
>>12802582you forgot the bios files or have the wrong emulator or core setor you're launching primehack and didn't set up the shortcut right
>>12801903I like it but wish they had made it 6" screen, bigger dpad, bigger buttons.
>>12802591no, i have a bunch of bios files. I went into nethersx2 and launched from the first time there and now it works, but now i get control overlays on the game and it doesn't register any button presses
>>12802589even if that were true (it isn't) it still doesn't solve the other dealbreaking problems of the device
>>12802594>i want a gigantic sumerian lagdroid slabletthat market is already overcovered for you, retard
>>12802610There's no 6" 4:3 handheld... tiny hands
>>12802617my hands could crush yours, literally, physically, actually, a 3.5inch screen is all you need unless you're an eyelet, in which cause you most certainly do not have alpha hands and most certainly have a weak chin and glasses
>>12802625Russ I watched your reviews of 3.5" devices and when I got one I was like "this is tiny as shit russ must have tiny hands cause it looks bigger in the video" I think reetroid should have made the nova 5" to beat out the anbernig 477 but I think they should also make a 6" and 7" novas with bigger everything I would buy more.
Why tf will gamenative recognize my button presses in all the menus but when i open a game nothing works?
>>12802638i'm not snack&drink, he's a manlet, and he loves shithelds from retroon and ACKyn
>>128026253.5 inch is the bare minimum. 4+ like the Nova is ideal.
>>12802660FUCK man once again im setting up dolphin and yet again there's a control overlay on my screen and it won't read button presses, what the fuck do i do?
>>12801841Yes, but there's two ways of patching it, one that works on all systems including unhacked ones (and autolaunches on DSi) or the one that only works on hacked systems. The former requires you to get some development kit file and use it, the latter just works out of the box. Pretty much anything you get from any Chinese source will have the former, any western source will be the latter.
>>12802609Is Rocknig/Arnogda not on the nova yet?>Other issuesWhich is why the 406h mogs
This is the size a Nomad and Game Gear nostalgia handheld could be with a 4.7" screen in a case the same size as the original nomad. I experimented and replaced the Nomad D-pad with a Saturn d-pad but I would rather have the original Nomad d-pad. I used oval buttons like the Nomad, but removed two face buttons because six buttons on the face isn't actually that good for fighters, and this would have two triggers on the back instead for playing six button fighting game. This lets you use full size console d-pad and buttons on the face.
