Why is Dracula wearing a fez?
>>
Did you know he's from the east? That area was part of the Ottoman Empire for a long ass time.

Vampires have pretty obviously never been based on jews, ever, if you're actually familiar with the material. Dracula's basis is so famous, I don't even think it needs to be said. Although I guess Romanian's look like jews if you want to pretend all jews look exactly alike.

This is probably my favourite final form of CV's Dracula because it's less monster-like (like the final form in 1, Rondo/SotN) and more god-like, which is the most fitting for Castlevania's story, in which Dracula isn't just a monster but the King of all Demons.

Yes, Bram Stoker's Dracula represents the fears of the book's target audiance, meaning middle to upper class (people who read books for leisure) British citizens during the end of the victorian era. Judaism is not relevant at all for this place and time because it was inexistant in the British empire. Furthermore anything that has to do with religion in the book, for instance with how the only women that manages to survive is the well behaved Christian woman who married and doesn't fuck around, are values that are identical in Judaism.
I can see how idiots could go "Dracula has money so he's a Jew!" but money is not relevant to the things Dracula is to be feared for, it's only a plot device facilitating his moving to London.

The thing about Dracula is that it's easy for retards to try and insert their fetishes into the story (like that woman who claims Dracula is gay who is now forever cited on wikipedia), firstly because what he represents in the book (middle to upper class Victorian society losing its values due to the influence of colonized countries) are not relevant today anymore; and secondly because it's the kind of story that is precisely perfect to adapt to other time periods or even locations, which is precisely what modern adaptations have been and keep doing. But that doesn't mean that any interpretation of the original story is correct.

You're a retarded idiot who doesn't know shit about Victorian-era England. "The Jewes Are The People Who Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing." was a popular and well-documented piece of graffiti around this time, and even linked to the Jack The Ripper investigation. For starters. Next time actually know what the fuck you're talking about retard.

I'm the guy you were responding to. Just would like to point out you're a fucking retard. Bram Stoker was Irish, and Romania was not a country that was colonized by the British Empire. Nor did Bram Stoker ever once state the book was about reverse colonialism, or fears of the ghosts of the British Empire's past coming to haunt them.

The whole book is literally a treatise on vampire mythology cultivated and contextualized around the singular patron character, Dracula. Sexual corruption is an aspect, but has nothing to do with imperialism, colonialism, or racial fears. If anything it has to do with the nature of Britain's susceptibility to immoral corruption in general through the social veneer of the Victorian aesthetic, which is nothing more than an act, something lots of writers were critical of the time, but that is not the central point or theme of the book. The book is literally primarily about vampire mythology.
>>
>>12806667
Wow, how strange, a movie about Dracula, wearing a pendant he never wore in the book, made 20 years after Bram Stoker died, and even more ironically, was likely a prop borrowed from other productions based around Ottoman militarydecorations.

You too, are a complete fucking idiot.

The book... Dracula in his current form is nothing more than a hodge podge of miscellany. Supposedly the name Dracula originally was a complement implying he was a warrior with the heart of a dragon. But stories are told and retold and subverted more times. There is no definite book there are many books and no book tells the same story. It is kinda like saying the one story about Beowulf. But in the case of Beowulf the stories carry a similar thread.

Dracula on the other hand is anything from the plucky ruler of a small kingdom who made waves on a repressive empire that was too big to fail. To the demon king of magic.

I obviously know Romania was not a country from the British Empire, not everything has to be so literal. Romania was perfect to use then for the book precisely because it wasn't part of the empire, it represents the unknown and different traditions and values for the average reader. Dracula's minions are gypsies. Making it literally about a country from the empire would have been too obvious and controversional, and could have been misinterpreted as the author being anti-colonialism.

>moral corruption
Sure, that's obvious, but corrupted by what or whom?

>vampirism
Of course, but that doesn't mean it can't mean something else too

> but has nothing to do with imperialism, colonialism, or racial fears.

It literally has a man from a different country hardly anyone knows anything about, with a different language and more importantly different values, moving to the country to deceive everyone, fuck their wives and cause a young promising man to (almost) lose everything. These are the primal basic fears of anyone afraid of strangers, themes that certain political parties still use to this day. This, precisely at a time when other cultures would clash with those within England due to imperialism.
And while there is a critic of Victorian values possibly getting corrupted by this stranger, the moral of the story is precisely that sticking to these values is what ends up saving the day: Jonathan Harker resists lust with the two vampiric women to come home, fight the stranger and in the end survive, the only girl that manages to survive and become stronger in the process is the one who is married and who doesn't fuck around, while every other girl that didn't either dies or literally becomes a monster (Mina, who was boasting about seeing several men at once), and Van Helsing is the embodiment of Christian values saving the day. Even Morris dies at the end, obviously victorian values aren't something an American would follow.
>>
>>12807663
>>12808107

And to conclude it's also worth noting that modern adapations precisely got rid of this moral and of the importance of most of those values (the most obvious example being the cross no longer being efficient) precisely because those values aren't as important to society today.

Reading the actual history of Vlad Dracul and his son Dracula is so horrifying, not so much because of the rare "impaling people" events but just when you learn of every single king and duke and bishop and prince and everyone else involved, it really puts into perspective the fact that white people were engaged in centuries and centuries of literal brother wars. Just millennia of deciding that thousand of serfs needed to die because one guy wanted to rule a patch of swamp that his cousin owned or married the wrong uncle's daughter, and continuing to go back and forth every 5 years with another generation-decimating war.

He knows more than you do, and you're losing your cool. It's a sign you don't think clearly and with due diligence and just exist in a perpetual state of paranoia over a perceived "enemy".

As sad as it may sound, that made us stronger ("fitter" in darwinian terms). The lack of that kind of violence during the past 80 years has made us soft and weak.

>As sad as it may sound, that made us stronger ("fitter" in darwinian terms).
How? I could pay 10 inbred troglodytes to kill you, that's not increasing Darwinian fitness.
>>
>>12808492
If we lived in a society were getting killed by 10 inbred troglodytes was a common enough occurrence that you had to live with and plan for, there would be people capable of surviving the attack (through martial skill, access to fortifications & better weapons, or ability to band with others in their defense) and people that wouldn't, those that survived would indeed be "fitter" than those that didn't (and would accordingly leave more offspring) in that particular context.

Getting very offtopic here, but have you read Xenophon's Anabasis? I won't get into the actual story (history), but the thing I found most fascinating is the depiction of how whole settlements had to live with and react to the very real possibility of hundreds/thousands of armed (likely hostile) men suddenly appearing at their doorsteps. Compare that with what's happening currently with Ceuta.

An artillery shell doesn't care if you are a 6'11'' Dolph Lundgren clone, war, if anything, is straight up dysgenic.
Also, speaking as someone with plenty of dead family members on both sides of both world wars, please cut it out with the Ernst Junger/Fight Club LARP.

Please.

>Sure, that's obvious, but corrupted by what or whom?
By itself. Lucy is a lampoon on the various headlines at the time of child abuse and molestations by women. She is directly analogous to the trend in newspapers of the time corroborating stories about women who were sexually molesting children, which is also implied in the book.

>but that doesn't mean it can't mean something else too
The vampirism is meant to be literal. Just like the ghosts in The Shining, per Kubrick's own words in an interview, are also meant to be literal. There seems to be this fascination with eschewing the supernatural/folklore side of stories to reach a more "realistic" morality, devoid of the cultural trappings that made it interesting to begin with, and I despise that.

>It literally has a man from a different country -- with a different language and more importantly different values, moving to the country to deceive everyone, fuck their wives
Which is literally the same exact thing as one of the main characters who is a hero, Quincey Morris, who is an American from Texas marrying one of the british women.

Anything inferred from that is your own imagination, not the stated intent of the author, which as far as we know, was primarily just about his fascination with vampire mythology. For all we know he wanted Dracula to come to Britain because he was more familiar with the setting and could more easily write about it. The sexuality and romance is due obviously to it being a Gothic Romance. In fact, in the broader sense of the Gothic Romance, Dracula is not even unique. Mysterious strangers, ancient castles, taboo sexual transgressions are all a major reoccurring theme through most of them. Some people even proclaim that Dracula is a rip off of Carmilla.

Secondly, it is LAUGHABLE that Van Helsing is the "embodiment" of Christian values saving the day, since he combines Christian traditions with medicine, and then also the occult, which would be considered blasphemous.
