I need help and I don't know where else to resort to.
I'm currently emulating "Hourai Gakuen no Bouken! / The Adventures of Horai Highschool" for the Super Famicom with English patch, bugfix and the patcht that fixes the internal logic of the random encounters on Retroarch SNES9X core. I'm playing as a boy and I'm on Chapter 4 (the one where you explore the dorm of the opposite sex), I see guides stating that on this chapter you can get a ghost party member called Misato, according to the sole english guide and one japanese guide this character is exclusive to female players, but according to another japanese guide I saw the party member gender locked.
I would assume it's the latter because it would be weird to give the female player 2 exclusive party members, I wanted to know if anyone who has ever played this as a guy knows if the party member is obtainable.

Or at the very least a walk through walk cheat to see if I can use it to obtain him by accessing the closed off portion of the boys' dormitary, there's one gamehacking dot org but it has a different nomenclature, I tried converting them assuming they were for Game Genie into RAW but it still still didn't work. I then tried to see if any of the default Retroarch cheats worked at all and none of them did, so I then transferred my save to an unpatched Japanese ROM to see if any cheats worked there yet no dice, I tend tried using some Japanese cheats from wikiwiki as a test yet that also didn't work. The cheats Retroarch uses are the same ones from DukeOdin on gamehacking dot org, does anyone if this is just an issue due to Retroarch?

Please?

codes working depends if the core supports cheats
you had the right idea about testing the unpatched jap rom

Shortly after I wrote please I ran the game through Masen and the walk through wall cheats worked so it seems it was a Retroarch issue, ultimately it seems the party member is indeed female exclusive, if you use walk through walls you can access the entrance of the dungeon but judging from scanned images from the game it seems to lack a door that takes you into the deeper parts of it where said party member is, weird that even though the area is blocked the devs decided to take that extra measure in case someone somehow got in, also the preference of giving a female player 2 exclusive party members while the male one only gets 1. I also later tried the cheat on the eng patched version and it worked just fine so it's really just Retroarch. So I guess if I want to get the party member I should try to temporarily gender swap with a cheat I found online or use Masen's debug to find the room's ID to enter the dungeon and hope for the devs.

I used to use native Snes9x but then suddenly about a year ago when I was playing Laplace no Ma the emulator stopped taking my imputs, it didn't matter whether I reinstalled it or even if I tried it on another machine it wouldn't take either controller or keyboard inputs for some reason, I assume a windows update screwed up a driver or something. Regardless ever since I've been using Retroarch for SNES and PC98, then individual emulators for everything else.

hope for the best*
