Fan translation for Madou Monogatari for the Sega Saturn is outhttps://romhack.ing/database/content/entry/-fQC78bOQKq64yezGGgHmw/madou-monogatari-english-translation
It's AI btw
>>12805909Okay
>>12805909No indication of that. It's done by the same group who did Saturn SOTN and several other translations, plus improvement hacks like widescreen for Story of Thor/Beyond Oasis. They have a history of doing good work.
>>12805909If it was slop, romhack.ing wouldn't have a download link for it.
Cool, how's the game?
>>12805909Nice!
>Sorcery SagaWhy would you ever title it this? Anyone who cares about this series calls it Madou Monogatari.
>>12806593The PSVita roguelike in the series was the first to be commercially translated and had that title
>>12806612So?
>>12806815it's the canonized English titleit would be like making a Mega Man fan translation and leaving it as Rockman
>>12806815Most fan translations of series games have also used it, see the translations of most of the GameGear games as well as the remakes of Madou Monogatari I for PC Engine CD and MegaDrive
>>12805909It's by an existing team and they talk about the lore as if they *gasp* played the game and researched supplementary material! That's your cue to attack this non kosher trannylation not providing value to american shareholders
>>12806593It's alliterative like the original and a good translation, and it was officially used at some point. Shame they went back to "MADO Monogatari" (sic)
>>12805909good now go back to basedajackchan
>>12806816no if Rokuman was translated faithfully there would be no "mega" man. at most they should fuk it up with Stonerman or Rockhardpenisman.
There is a card mini game
>>12806593because that's what the title means in English. if you're going to translate something, you translate it. otherwise you end up with silly shit like 'keikaku means plan'
>>12806816I would actually be in favor of Rockman fan translations letting you pick between the Japanese or English names.
>>12808476The purpose of translation is not the elimination of Japanese, but the relaying of meaning.I've been a fan of the series for over ten years at this point, and I didn't know that Sorcery Saga was supposed to be a translation of Madou Monogatari until it was explained to me.Would you insist Les Misérables be translated to "The Depressed"? If I told someone I was reading "A Poem About Troy", would I have any reason to think they would understand I meant the Iliad?
>>12808550>relaying of meaning'Madou Monogatari' is gibberish of you don't know Japanese.
>>12808550>the IliadThe original title is Ἰλιάς (Iliás), literally "Illion's" (where Illion is another name for Troy, used within the work itself), the "poem" part is inferred by readers later based on how this work is a poem.Illiad also means something related to Illion in english, that english title is as direct of a translation as it can get.Now if you told someone you were reading Sānguó Yǎnyì , Prestupleniye i nakazaniye , Alf Laylah wa-Laylah , Peri Zoion Geneseos , Mirifiques Aventures de maître Antifer , all with worldwide renown but you chose neither the famous popularized title localizations nor the direct translations but the weird romanization that would be useless even in the unlikely chance you're an actual non larping polyglot and wanted to look back the title in the source language only to realise it's a shitty romanization. What are the odds you wouldn't be called out for being such a stuck-up snob with no interest in explaining the work?
>>12808787nice rori legs.>>12809113it means "magic story" it's not hard to remember.
>>12805909better than pretty much any western lolcalizer
I've beaten it, it's a good what it is, basically an SNES RPG with 5th 2D graphics. It's really simple and overall easy but I've seen more brainded JRPGs than this, at least you have buffs/debuffs and some customization options for gear. A bit repetitive towards the end. I liked the characters and humour.
>>12810616>5th 2D graphics5th gen*Also I couldn't beat the last opponent of the card mini game, it takes some crazy luck and it feels like a giant waste of time You can't even use the Armor/Weapon Star+ items you can win at the card game on the end game weapons/armor so I'm not sure if it's worth grinding for it
>>12809192and keikaku's translation is plan, pretty easy. so, no need to translate it in the subs. if you're a TRUE Jap media fan, you shouldn't need a translation for keikaku, or kawaii, or konnichiwa, or sayonara, or hentai.
why is she like this
