This game is actually pretty fun if you just look up a guide on how to train your Digimon's stats and what the various speech bubbles mean.>B-but I like to play games blind!Stop being a poser faggot. Old video games were cryptic to pressure people into buying strategy guides, not because of some grand vision the lead designer had.
>>12807425You didn't beat the game I'm afraid
>>12807426Suck my digi dick, bot
Any of you fuckers ever think about reading the manual?
>>12807473The manual is pretty helpful, but the hints that they give you to get Greymon, Meramon, or Monocromon are too vague.Like what the fuck does "tight body" mean? Also there is no mention of the fact that you need to win atleast 10 battles.Same with monocromon. "He is heavy and intelligent" But if you win more than 5 battles you get stinky numemon.
>>12807425>pressure people into buying strategy guides, console games made 4KIDS were not that hard. read the manual if it came with one. IIRC all the digimon games had in-game tutorials too , unless you count the not-Tamagotchi original "mobile games"/toys.Digimon is not like Graphic Adventure Games which were totally milking it with Prima guides or whatever "call a clue" hotlines.>>12807487sure i get that but AFAIK the digi games were easier and more simple than Pokeymans.
>>12807532You cannot play Digimon World and Pokémon Gold/Silver (contemporary releases) and fucking tell me with a straight face that Digimon World is simpler than fucking Pokémon.
>>12807558>Pokémon Gold/Silver (contemporary releases)Crystal/Gen2 was best gen. that is all. if you wanna talk "contemporary" as in more recent non-/vr/ pokeymans? that's offtopical but the mainlines are more complex than Crystal ever was.... pointlessy so IMO, and usually easier unless you're a "collectorfag"
>>12807558pokemon is a very complex ruleset that doesn't ask you to engage with the complexity digimon is very simple but asks you to actually play the game and build your guys
I brute forced DW as a kid over many months. I didn't have a legit copy to begin with so I didn't even have the manual until much later.I could never find Metalmamemon despite eventually looking it up online. Everywhere had the same vague description of the area he was in that could have easily been 3-4 different areas and along with something like a 1% appearance rate I never had a chance. The other one I had trouble with was Frigimon. Everywhere told you where his igloo was even though it's obvious. Some places mentioned needing a sick fire or baby digimon but didn't mention how to get sick apart from going to Freezeland and waiting which never worked for me.The specific stats and conditions for evolution are massively retarded. A couple of years ago someone reverse engineered the game to find the exact evolution conditions and a lot of them are crazy. Also pretty much all of the strategy guides from back in the day were flat out wrong about most of them. Also the game was buggy as hell but dripping with soul. 10/10 and a definite top 5 for me.
>>12807425Yes, all those faqs on the early web were just ripped from players guides, even for the games that had none.
>>12807425If that's all you used the guide for, then fine, but if you used a guide to find out how to recruit all the digimon, you've only deprived yourself of the joy of exploration.I've played this game many times anon. I wish I could relieve that 1st time of not knowing anything about the game and get that 1st time experience again. If you use a guide right away, you're only depriving yourself. If you like a game enough, you can always use a guide on a 2nd playthrough, but you only ever get 1 blind playthrough.
>>12807576no. you still have to build your team in Pokemon Crystal/etc. you just don't need to care about all the EVs and minmaxing mechanics behind it all.in the end they're all kids games that can powered thru with effort/grinding/trail n error, even by a 10 year old. as long as they can fucking read. i've met adults who are gamers but can't play any RPGs because they can't read or too lazy to read anything with text innit.
>>12807742fuck off. download the guides. hack the planet!
>>12807742Yeah I'm not saying to use a guide to drag you by the digi-dick so you know what's around every corner. I'm just using a digivolution guide so I can get an actual good digimon that isn't poop lover Numemon and get some work done. I just got Metalgreymon right at the beginning of the game. This is the at least 4th time I have attempted to beat this game and I am having waaaay more fun with it now than I did as a kid.>>12807638>The specific stats and conditions for evolution are massively retarded.This. Like for Meramon as an example, how the fuck am I supposed to know that you need 10 or more care mistakes to get him? Or that you need 10 battles at least? The manual says to have a tight body and high offense. Okay training offense in the gym is obvious, but with tight body you need specifically 15 - 25 weight. I thought it just had to be low, and I got Numemoned. At least with the newer digimon games like Time Stranger they actually tell you how what the freaking digivolution reqs are.
>>12807785Normies can't play anything other than garbage like COD, GTA and Farcry. And yeah with Pokémon the deeper mechanics never come into play unless you want to get into competitive. But that all got streamlined in the newer games and Champions.
>>12807795Ok you cheated
>>12808002Nah I just don't enjoy wasting time with unintuitive digivolution reqs so I can get to the part of the game that is actually well designed and fun, the exploration.Afterall, the game is called Digimon WORLD, not Digimon gym.
>>12807426Why are you afraid?
>>12808474He is afraid of unintuitive digivolution reqs that nobody in their right mind could figure out.
>>12807425>if you just look up a guideDo we have accurate guides these days? I remember the official guide being pretty shit back in the day
>>12807785>they're all kids games that can BE powered thru with effort/grinding/TRIAL 'n' error,
>>12809360https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps/913684-digimon-world/faqs/73845/about This one is has been pretty helpful with digivolution reqs. I just just got Metalgreymon, gonna head over to the great canyon to explore more soon. And yeah ONLY look up digivolution reqs do you know how to raise a good digimon. Don't look up maps or the locations of recruitable digimon since the exploration is the part of the game that is actually fun, and you don't want to spoil.
>>12809412Oh shit guys, we have got a hyper genius in the thread!!
>>12809592Thanks digibro, I'll make kid me proud and actually beat the game this time around. Should be a fun time killer for the next while.
>>12809625Glad to help, anon! :)Play Re:digitize and Next Order after. Blacks belong in zoos.
