What version do I play if I've only beaten 4 and Bloodlines?
JP. you don't lose anything by not playing the US version.
>>12807735play us, the lack of damage scaling makes the later levels anti climactic. way too easy to tank.
JP because it has a much better custom music chip
It's acceptable to the play Japanese version if you acknowledge that you play the game on Very Easy and only then replay the US version to play on Normal. The game is designed for replay value anyways, you won't see everything on a single playthrough.
>>12807735Play both JP and US, there's enough content in the game that playing it twice in a row doesn't feel stale unless you choose the same path both times.
>>12807735Play 1 if you haven't already. For 3 I prefer U.S. The Jap version is too easy, some enemy art looks worse and the soundtrack gets grating. If you want, there are romhacks that fix u.s censorship
>>12807758if by better you mean worse
Play the US version for better difficulty and superior, cleaner-sounding music. If it is too hard switch to Japanese.
>>12807735The US version, the music actually sounds better without that chip
The custom music chip in the Japanese version makes the music vastly superior, do not listen to Auster samefagging in here trying to get you to play the inferior censored US version.
>>12808237based contrarian
>>12808237>>12807758FDS sound is godly. honestly those are the best versions of those games. Metroid, Dracula's Curse and even Zelda 1 are much better with the improved audio.
>>12807735>how do I play this Japanese videogame, the intended Japanese way made by the Japanese devs or the retarded hack made by dumb Americans four decades ago to try and increase 80s rentals with unintended artificial difficultyPlus you get the better soundtrack.https://youtu.be/NhjxJ0smRfg
>>12808141Wtf. Is this Japan only? I just started playing Dracula's curse this year
>>12808278I posted in here once buddy. No one is samefagging. It's not exactly unheard of that some people prefer U.S, even if they're a based minority.
>>12808278Wow this is the first time I've been called Auster. No anon, I just don't like that awful fuzzy FM synth sound, because it is ugly and only easily impressed children (possibly you?) or manchildren (probably you) prefer it. (The music is still good though so it's not that big a deal.)
>>12808894See, this is the kind of bad post that's normally produced by underdeveloped minds that prefer the Japanese music. It's just a matter of how far you've managed to advance since childhood. OP, you don't have to put yourself in the company of somebody who says "artificial difficulty".
>>12808905What, the climbing? The hidden 1up? I think those are in every version.
>>12808149This is my feelings on it, though grant specifically plays differently, so Id encourage a JP playthrough for him and any version for the others.
>>12809038>no argumentFigures
bump
>>12807735Japan, and if you find it too easy then you move to the US one.
Play 1 before 3
>>12812126why? it's not like it matters storywise
>>12812168Puts in perspective how much of an improvement 3 is. 1 is fairly short anyways.
>>12812168>why would I play a franchise in release orderNot very bright are you.
