>dude let's put a raspberry pi in our snes cartridge lmao
Not a lot different from putting a chip superior to the CPU in one
>>12807958Meanwhile an almost perfect 32x port exists now (Ultimate Doom 32x Resurrection) and runs on the og hardware. That one should've been rereleased.
>>12808069Yeah an emulated FX3 via RPi (LOL) has no chance against an SH-2. This "special" version of DOOM runs at like, what, 20fps? KEK.
>>1280807520 fps would've been okay if it had proper Doom physics, floor and ceiling textures, and the most important part - enemy rotation sprites.
>>12808084>enemy rotation spritesIIRC, that's the ONE change LRG's SNES Doom has over the original. Everything else is still a weird custom engine that isn't really based off DOOM.
>don't ever try anything cool just complain about shit and shit on anyone who does try anything. Those poor raspberry pis could have been used for a tranny dildo counter instead why bother doing or creating anything with such easy access to high quality consumer hardware that you'd never have access to in the 90s? Just be gay like me and complain it's way easier
>>12808092It's one thing to put a RPi on a cartridge and call it a day. It's another to utilize said RPi on a purposefully limited quantity so it doesn't get dumped until years later ala. Paprium.
>>12808085>that's the ONE changeIs it changed? I've seen some videos and haven't noticed
>>12808102Yeah, I didn't recall correctly at all. The most major changes were some gimmicky FMV intros and changed medkits because they caved to copyright pressure.https://youtu.be/PkYDq0jrCHA?t=327
>>12808095It's one thing if someone forces you to suck dick with a gun to your head, it's another to be a faggot because you enjoy it
>>12808110This is just sad
>>12807958Do you even actually know how cartridges work? Did you not know that that's basically like, EVERY cartridge? They're not just raw data storage units. Why do people post their ignorance in greentext form and then try to laugh it off. It's really transparent, 4chan is 40 years old we know what this pattern "means".
>>12808318This. Almost every SNES game had a Raspberry Pi inside it back in the day. SMDH at the ignorance of these children.
>>12808318This is an unfathomably retarded post
>>12808349You joke, but what do you think all the expansion chips are?
>>12808110>copyright pressureThe Red Cross labels it as basically a war crime to use the Red Cross in any other context than the organization of the Red Cross. Not just during real conflicts but using the Red Cross symbol in anything.
>>12808407So... Doomguy's committing a war crime by slaughtering demons?
>>12808407I'm aware of that. The pertinent matter here is that the American Red Cross is a company that sells first aid kits and threatens to file frivolous lawsuits (at great expense to their own donators) against anyone who dares depict the first aid kits they sell in a work of media.
>>1280835973 out of 1749 SNES games have an enhancement chip in the cartridge.
>>12808584Yes and one of them was Doom
>>12808592I'm not sure what your point is, my dear retard. Nobody was talking about Doom in the reply chain you felt the need to insert yourself into.
>>12808661I had assumed this >>12808349 was being facetious
>>12808584How many of those are "fast ROM"? Or are you still pretending that doesn't count for some reason.
>>12807958lrg hasnt shuttered yet?
>>12807958Seemed like a bit of a cash-grab product. Would have been good to have 30 years ago I guess. I have some nostalgia for the original too because the SNES version was the first time I ever played episodes 2 and 3. And it's $100 too, that's crazy
>>12808681They're still going but their releases are getting worse and their site suddenly has a big focus on blog posts.Josh Fairhurst probably bailed when he saw things going south. PS5 physicals are stopping, Switch 1/2 physicals are becoming less viable, customer numbers are dropping for each release, minimum order numbers for Switch games increased meaning open pre-orders became higher risk.
>>12808085>Everything else is still a weird custom engine that isn't really based off DOOM.nothing wrong with that if the game feels like doom.doom 2 for gba uses a custom engine (southpaw engine) but you have to look really deep to find significant differences (other than edited sprites and textures) because they made sure to make it feel like doom 2.
>>12808470I don't agree with it being a crime to use a red cross as a generic symbol for medical aid and I don't see how it would ever negatively effect the Red Cross itself. Hope it gets challenged in court and they get told to fuck off and worry about non-medics putting red crosses on them in combat zones
>>12808857Thankfully we live in a day and age where the REAL DOOM 2 got ported to GBA.
>>12807958>Btw, we are not responsible if it fries your console
>>12809080Just like the good ol' days.
>>12809034not yet.the music of the homebrew port is horrible.i would make better music (i converted doom 1 music to doomgba format), but doom 2 midis are a little more complex, so simplifying them to fit within doomgba constraints is harder and will take a lot of time to do.
>>12809182dunno about those carts, but the aladdin deck enhancer can fry top loader nes's.
>>12809434I forgot all about the Aladdin. I have the MIG-29 Cart like that photo, and just got an awesome top loader NES last month, play it every night. Should I be concerned about jamming that MIG cart in the top loader? Been playing Dragon Spirit like crazy lately having a blast
>>12807958Super FX 2 was more powerful than the entire snes.
>>12807958There's layers to this shit. The SuperFX more or less replaced the base hardware. It mogged the main CPU so hard finding stuff for the 65816 to do that wasn't just housekeeping was somewhat pointless. So then what makes a good expansion vs. a zoomer grade expansion? Period correctness I'd say.The Pi doesn't just do all the work and have the SNES display it, that would be the lamest of the lame, they at least chose to artifically limit it to a theoretical SuperFX3 which was a superset of the FX2 running at a higher clock rate. So it's at least emulating a chip that could have theoretically existed at the time. Though it would likely have meant SNES doom was $200 a cart. Then it all comes down to is it even impressive to be running an overamped weirdo build of Doom on a console that couldn't do any better using a whole assed computer on a chip that could on its own run real doom?I come down on the side of "it's cool that it exists, I don't care though."
>>12808857>nothing wrong with that if the game feels like doom. It doesn't though. Doom physics are not implemented
>>12807958>muh precious plastic and mass produced circuits containing copied data repainted over and over by the MILLIONS
>>12808241You collect dildos and STDs that’s a lot more sad
>>12807958Nintendo put a Game Boy in a SNES cartridge so what's the problem?
>>12808674gr8 b8 m8, I r8 3.58/3.58
Does it still do the cool mode 7 map of the original SNES Doom?
>>12812193Yeah, it remains mostly unchanged from the SNES original. Some last-minute additions were made to the maps in order to look somewhat like their PC counterparts, but it's a far cry from the effort that went into D32XR.
>>12808849literally none of these things were a factor when he sold to Embracer years agohe only left now because his golden handcuffs finally came off and he could cash in his equity and walk away to start new projects
>>12808069Except people have a SNES and no-one has a 32X.
