What are your best /lan/ party (and / or internet cafe) memories /vr/? I've had a few of them between 2000 and 2006 but for me this one is my most memorable.>2005>moved cities and went to new school>made a couple friends>they kept talking about playing CS. i've never played it. >ffw like 2 weeks, they tell me to come to an internet cafe>bruce, the original friend i made, brings a shit ton of guys from our school. whole cafe is packed>we start playing CSS and 1.6 together (still fairly certain it was just 1.6)>we make a custom server, playing mostly dust but also a bunch of office>play for like 6-8 hours in this cafe on a saturday>monday morning i'm bros with all the guys who came>continue to have lan meetups every 2 or so weeksI ended up moving again a few months later, but those memories I made and the bros I had during that time still stick with me. Quake and Halo 2 parties come 2 and 3 for me but the internet cafe days were something else.

>>12808112Ops pick is the annual Dreamhack in Sweden, it is still going to this day. No fat people and a lot of women attend that one. Normal LAN parties were the opposite of this. They were a total sausasge fest of asians and chubby white dudes almsot exclusively.

Early CS was a blast (no matter what Q/UT purists would say) when people still learned how to best it and when it was still about a lot of maps, not just de_dust, de_aztec and de_inferno. I loved cs_delta_assault and VIP maps like as_oilrig and quite a few others that got removed from rotation very quickly due to balance issues.

Early digitial cameras also tended to take very dark photos as no one knew how to fuck with ISO. Pic related is a normalfag photo of san diego comicon 2002. Everything looks dark but it isn't.People under 30 never lived in an era where cameras simply sucked and people were useless with them. Good cameras were expensive and few people could handle them right. That is the one big tech change in the 21st century, where even phones effortlessly take better pictures than 99.9% of pre-2000 photos.
