It really is pretty damn fun. I vaguely remember getting decently far as a kid, I think to the part where you have to fight evil versions of your allies. But I never beat the game. Maybe that's another loose end in my life I should tie up.
I was super pissed as a kid because i thought it would be an arcade port like tmnt2 on nes was, but i came to appreciate it as "Konami Mega Man" later as a teen.
