It was ok, and I played it alot at friends houses, but I never owned one and I have zero desire to today. Better to VC or emulate the 3 good games on your favorite modded system of choice because the controller fucking sucks and the shit just ain't worth owning to me.
Got the ModRetro m64 on release week and have been playing nothing but N64 games since then. I haven’t played these games seriously since the original console, I always thought emulation on PC or even Wii/Switch just felt off and looked like shit. Haven’t had this much fun playing games in years.

>>12832131I remember a friend was pretty excited to get the N64, given all the praise Mario64 was getting from the media, selling me on Zelda 64 before it came out. At the time, I was pretty happy with Playstation and starting to convert over to Saturn, while I had played and enjoyed the Mario and Zelda games on NES and SNES, at the time I had more of an open mind towards new, exciting experiences so I was pretty happy with PS+SS. However coming from enjoying Treasure games, I did have to get games like Troublemakers, Bangai-oh, and Sin & Punishment, even though I did not have a N64, I brought them over to that friend's place to play them. At another mutual friend's place, pro wrestling was a big thing, with WCW, ECW, and WWF at what felt like the peak (I was in the ECW camp) so the N64 wrestling games pretty much is what I associate with the system. Fun, great times indeed.

I have a vivid memory of being three or four years old sitting in my parents' van outside Hollywood Video. My dad comes back out to the car and tells my older brother "They seriously didn't have any new games. They had Mario, which you've played, and some airplane game."

I’ve been playing Robopon 64It’s not bad, but I’m impressed how little info there is on it in english. Both FAQs on gamefaqs just make up shit regarding the game since they couldn’t read jap, and the one post I found on HG101 bashing the game failed to mention the actual terrible part of the game, which is that you can only transfer and use the 15 robopon from the 64 game story to the game boy version

>>12832264That’s funny because while I’m older than you by 4 years or so, I had the same progression w video games specifically. Went from the NES to the Genesis to the 64, mainly because wasn’t allowed to have video games but my parents allowed me to hang out w my best friend every weekend and those are the consoles he got and we spent hours upon hours every Friday to Sunday gaming. From Turtles 3, to streets of rage2/sonic 2, to Mario Kart 64 as the main games for each platform we played. Maybe that’s a common thing for console babies growing up in the 90s as a kid.
