WTF was the issue exactly.
>>
>>12833972
Nobody had six controllers.
>>
>>12833972

They actually had this thing as the centerpiece in my small town arcade. I wasn't any good at it but I have a clear memory of going up to the sticks as a kid and having some older kids joining in or observing. The only thing I seem to remember is that the fat buttrball guy Juggernaut or whatever was a fat tub of goo and hard to deal with. Those side control stations look horrible desu

Ever notice they no black people in tha x-man. why the racism?

It had a release on the Xbox 360/PS3 along with The Simpsons arcade game. They've been delisted now but I still have them on an old 360 console
>>
>>12833986
The x-gene only occurs in homosapians.

A well timed 90s release on the SNES would have made this shit the best selling videogame of all TIME

This piece of shit console almost bricked itself with just Final Fight trying to load more than 4 characters on screen at once

The designs were anachronistic to the popular comics of the early 90s, the Clairmont/Byrne designs were at odds with the newer Jim Lee designs from the incredibly popular books of the time. The X-men games that did come out on the snes used those. It probably just wouldn't have run on the snes anyway, and if it did it'd be missing the 6 player gimmick.

I believe there was plans to port it to the Saturn I think? Or maybe 32x? But it never happened.

Another amazing arcade game that never released on consoles is the Aliens VS Predator game with Dutch (Arnie) from Predator but with a giant robot arm. It was planned for 32x but scraped. That could've been a killer app for it.

And like the X-Men game getting a home release later on 360 for a limited time until being delisted, AvP got an even more limited one... It only ever released on some home arcade stick as a built in game.

There's a fan made port to the Saturn that is apparently progressing pretty well. Hopefully it gets finished at some point

Wasn't there a Spider-Man arcade game as well that never got ported to anything?
>>
>>12835295
Yep as far as I know that old Spider-Man beat em up with like Hawkeye and Captain America as the other playable characters never got any home release afaik. I was just talking about that game with a friend the other day, he is current playing through it on MAME
>>
>>12835343
I remember the only way I got to the end of Spiderman was when a friend rented out an arcade for his birthday and I spent the whole time playing it.
For Captain America I remember being at the mall and some spanish guy stuck a switchblade into the coin slot and gave all the kids a shit load of quarters to beat it with. Good times...

>>12835349
Kek based Switchblade Spic. Yeah I've only ever played the Spider-Man game on MAME giving myself endless credits so I didn't notice the difficulty. We had the X-Men arcade game at my local skating rink as a kid though that was fucking awesome. .. it was the smaller version though, I don't think it was the full 6 player. 4 player maybe? Played it every weekend when I was a kid, we never best it though. Got through maybe 3 stages.
>>
>>12835363
yeah whatever happened to this character? no one gives a shit about bishop anymore
>>
>>12833972
What do you mean? It's on my Wii right now.
>>
So I have a weird story about this. It's going to be long and rambly but I promise it's leading to something.

As the other anon said we also had his at my local skating rink. Ok so I'm like 11 or 12... There is this older kid in town (it's like 2000 people, small Midwest town) he's like 15 or 16.... His name was Steven Sweeney and he was known in town as kind of a trouble maker... Well one day, he and his 19 year old cousin saw a 8 year old girl named Felicia Holt, on her bike in town in the same neighborhood as Steven. They started throwing rocks at her for some reason and I guess she threw one back. They dragged her into a ditch and strangled her to death. They then took her pants off and shoved leaves in her. This happens in broad daylight btw.

That evening I went to the skating rink as I always did on Friday nights. So kids were talking about what happened "Someone killed a little girl" etc. So I am playing X-Men by myself. I had a stud ear ring, I had just gotten it and this was right before it was hip for guys to have them, at least where I live. I got a lot of shit for it and actually ended up taking it out later and letting it grow back... Anyway I'm playing X-Men by myself and all of a sudden some dude grabs my shoulder and leans in to my ear and says "NICE EAR RING YOU TWO EYED FAGGOT" It was Steven and his cousin. To this day I don't understand the two eyed part. About an hour later cops show up to the skating rink and arrest both of them and everyone knew "Oh shit it was them"

So yeah I was playing this game and got grabbed and insulted by a child murderer. Steven only got a few years because he was a juvenile. His cousin got more. Steven is out now and even lives in the area again. You can Google these names and I'm sure you're find something about the case.

>Then it explain how it did Turtles in Time which is no more advanced, with ease
Arcade could have 4 turtles and 10 foot solders on screen at once, SNES could have 2 turtles and 4 foot soldiers on screen at once. The character sprites in X-Man are bigger than the ones in Turtles in Time.
>>12835295
>Wasn't there a Spider-Man arcade game as well that never got ported to anything?
Yeah, it was on the same Sega hardware as Golden Axe Revenge of Death Adder too. A ton of great arcade beat em ups never got ported because they'd fry 4th gen consoles and the genre was not popular enough for 5th gen. Off the top of my head.

X-Men
Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon
Night Slashers
Ninja Baseball Batman
Golden Axe Revenge of Death Adder
AvP
Battle Curcuit
Armored Warriors
Dungeon Magic
Metamorphic Force
Violent Storm

It would be nice if these games got ports to PS1 or Saturn. Unfortunately Shumps and Vs Fighting Games got 90% of the love. Even great Run and Guns like Mystical Warrior and Geostorm got passed over.

I googled it too, apparently his cousin was also a minor and since juvenile records are sealed there is nothing online about it... Happened in like , 97-98 in Doniphan, MO. I assure you it happened, it was a huge shock for the community because shit like that doesn't happen here or not very often and it was so senseless. I will never forget Steven doing that (his name is spelled Swiney apparently and if you Google the info you can find arrests for more recent stuff. He's 44 I am 40, like I said he was a few years older. It was just out of no where I had never talked to the guy and he did it really loud everyone heard it was very embarrassing but also the two eyed part was baffling.

It was actually the first of people basically calling me a fag for having an ear ring like I said and then like a year later fucking everyone had them.

Anyway yes it happened and I felt so sorry for her mother, she was so nice super Christian and worked for the school. She had Felicia late in life she was really old and had a daughter that had just graduated high school named Candice who was super fucking hot.
>>
>>12833992
I agree, Anon. Half-Life on the N64 would have been a massive success too, and GTA IV on the PS2 might have been as well. Hell yeah.

Please consider unlearning your habit of starting sentences with "so".

The random "two eyed" insult reminds me of a time when I was sitting on a bench in the hallway in my high school, near the end of my last day of school before graduation, and this one dude in my grade who I knew the name of but had never once interacted with in any way emerged from the crowd of passing students, got right in my face, and yelled "You come from SHIT planet!!" before melting back into the crowd, never to be heard of (by me) again.
>>

I'm pretty sure there was a deluxe model that wasn't as cramped. Fun game. Last I played it was in an Indiana Dairy Queen in 2000. Seems like every arcade had X-Men back in the day.

It reminds me of a Quake 2 machinima about a detective called Superfly Johnson and his nemesis(?) "Two Legged Fag"

I don't know if you can even find any of them anywhere anymore.

I might be misremembering the name. It was "superfly" something, but "superfly johnson" is a companion character in Daikatana. So unless they named him after a what-would-be-now controversial machinima, it's probably something different.
The little guy was named two legged fag though. There were like 3 of these in a series.
>>
>>12840087
okay, just to complete everything, it's this:

His name is Rick Jones. Not Johnson. I don't remember where I got Superfly from, i didn't watch all this just right now.
Two legged fag.

When it released on 360 people would just use the infinite specials cheat and nearly effortless spam their way through the game.

Otherwise special attacks consume your HP which is lame af for an x-men game.

The game was based on a pilot for an X-Men cartoon that was nearly greenlit but the deal fell through. Konami was already deep into making the game so they just said "fuck it" and finished it anyway.

Impressive! A lone coder, still making games for the Saturn some thought could not be done...really cool. There are other similar projects of course, but this is unique because I've basically never heard of Saturn homebrew. Supposedly the hardware was difficult to program for, yeah? 3D games anyway. The snes could barely run final fight 3. You could see it struggle loading more than 5 characters. It's why the backgrounds were so shit because they needed the resources to have a 2nd player.

There's been rumors for years this was going to be a 32x release along with other games like tmnt tit/asterix and others as sega of America had apparently talked to these companies about home ports. All that stopped the moment sega japan came out and said the Saturn is here. Don't waste any time or energy on the 32x
