do euro /vr/os remember?
No. Looks like some zillennial shit so I was probably too old for that.
Yeah, good old Moorhuhn Adventure. It was actually quite decent, I like its quirky style.Probably the only actually good game out of the quadrillion Moorhuhn shovelware games Germany was flooded with back then.
>>12834816i wouldnt say it was 'the only good one', because 'good' would be an overstatement. the puzzles are quirky and clanky as fuck, the hud is a mess and some of the solutions are so far-fetched that no one could possibly think of them. qualitywise, it doesn't hold up to adventures like monkey island, but it definitely was one of the moorhuhn games they put the most effort and love in, along with moorhuhn adventure 2. it was my childhood, so i like it.
>>12834815>zillennialWtf is that?
>>12834843probably means a mix of 'zoomer' and 'millenial'
GZDoom chicken
>>12834843Cope word zoomers born in '95-'99 use to disassociate themselves from the moniker.
>>12834801If Morhun was ever a thing here in Sweden, then I never saw it.
>>12834801i only payed a demo and im pretty sure it gave me a virus
>>12834801I played it back in the day, it was serviceable. I think they made at least one other adventure game as well.
>>12835824you were right! Moorhuhn Adventure 2: Der Fluch des Goldes ('curse of the gold') released one or two years after 2003's Moorhuhn Adventure 1: Der Schatz des Pharao ('the pharaoh's treasure').
>>12834801Hell yeahI think I played the first version with green fields the most
>>12835669Yeah, basically only the early classic shooter games are known outside Germany, and after a somewhat short hype they got forgotten again. If you ever wondered why German anons seem to have such a weird love-hate relationship with that game while others don't care about it at all, here's why:In Germany, the company behind it (Phenomedia AG) bruteforced it into becoming a whole franchise, and went completely over the top with it. It became a massive trend until people got completely fed up with seeing that chicken everywhere. They released countless Moorhuhn games of all kinds of genres, Racers, Adventures, Sports, Jump'n'Run, Gambling etc, there's probably not a single main genre that didn't get a Moorhuhn game. Depending on whether you count mobile- and browser games or not, between 30-60 games were made. All of them were basically half-assed shovelware, although some of them had some kind of special charme.During the heights of the Moorhuhn craze, merchandise was everywhere. And same as with the games' range of genres, you could buy literally everything Moorhuhn-related. I had a plushy, various office supplies, and boxer shorts back then kek.At some point even a cartoon show was planned, but only one season of 1-minute shorts got produced. I only saw them on tv once or twice back then, but you can find them all on youtube. What makes all of this even more crazy is the bankruptcy of Phenomedia AG themselves. They didn't just go bankrupt in a normal, "people don't buy our stuff anymore"-way. It became one of Germany's biggest financial scandal of the 2000s. They forged their records like crazy to pump up their stonks, scammed their investors out of millions, and once it came to light the company completely imploded and its top managers got in jail for all of this.To give you a basic idea of just how big Moorhuhn was in Germany, this dumb song was in the German charts for several months:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4gVIEq5Z04
>>12837409>>12837409OP here. thanks anon, you summarized the history of Crazy Chicken aka Moorhuhn pretty well. phenomedia even tried to rescue their sinking ship by investing in megalomaniac plans: they made 'tiger&chicken' which at first was supposed to be a 60$ AAA game, but they scrapped that and sold it for 15 bucks in the end. for a short period of time they even had plans for a Moorhuhn full feature movie that was supposed to be aired internationally to make the Huhn world famous (im not kidding). they of course also scrapped that.when it comes to the games, as we already established in this thread, moorhuhn adventure 1 and 2 are probably the most complex, lore intensive and interesting Moorhuhn games, but by far not the best. the classic shooters + moorhuhn x were probably the best. (re)searching for secrets, developing new strategies and trying to get higher and higher scores can be pretty fun, even today. moorhuhn 1 is pretty bland though, its really worth looking into it only from moorhuhn 2 on.fun fact: some of those cheap but charming shovelware were even spread across then current consoles, see picrel.
TIL Graf's origin story
Real euro /vr/os were preoccupied with this.
>>12836892>demo is called "XS Version">full game is called "XL Version">let's slap a demo for another game on it and sell it as "XXL"-versionGotta love how devs back then perfected the concept of shareware lol
>>12838112you are mistaken. it was different:>XS: demo>XL: kinda an advanced demo version with a little more features>XXL: full version with all features included + bonus material (for example some demo for another moorhuhn game)in the circle on the screenshot you posted it says:"INCLUSIVE: Bonusgame + Demo: 'Curse of the Pharao' + Original Soundtrack". so with the XXL version here, you got the full game, a little mini bonus game, a demo for the prequel and the soundtrack.
>>12838493so what were the XXL exclusive features that were missing in the the XL "advanced demo" version?
>>12838507so lets say you have Game A. Game A has 10 levels.>XS: levels 1 and 2 for you to test; a Demo version>XL: levels 1 to 5 for you to play, an advanced Demo>XXL: all 10 levels for you to play, full version
>>12838513>XS: completely free, downloadable only>XL: 5$, downloadable only>XXL: 10$, downloadable and available as a physical copy (CD-R back then) in retail
>>12838513I accept your concession.
>>12838570you understood, right?XL ≠ full versionXL = demo versionXXL ≠ XL version + bonusXXL = full version + bonusit is easy to understand, right? even children understood it back then.
>>12838935the question was pretty simple - what features were missing in the XL version of Moorhuhn that you consider it a demo rather than full game. Nobody asked you to explain your imaginary marketing scheme for a game that doesn't exist.
>>12838965aah okay youre just ragebaiting, im out then. bye anon
>>12838970good. so we have established that xl was the proper full game, and xxl was just xl with a bonus game. off you go.
>>12838974
>>12838997>AI slopWow, really showed him.
>>12834801Moorhuhn 2 was awesome. I was able to sing the theme song.
>>12837507>spread across then current consoles, see picrel.Yeah I had the Playstation versions of Moorhuhn 2 and 3. They even had a multiplayer mode, which was pretty cool. They were also compatible with the light gun, too bad I never owned one since these games are probably tons of fun with one.>searching for secretsTechnically not an actual secret I guess, but my favorite is the one about the Lesshuhn in Moorhuhn 3 since it's just so ridiculous. Once you shoot a certain amount of them the game goes "The Lesshuhn got extinct!!!" and gives you a ludicrous amount of negative points, something like -1000000 pts or so lol
>>12839116The only secret I remember from Moorhuhn 3 was that you could play Tic Tac Toe.I did play MH2 to death though. It felt good to get the AP rounds and make the observation pad collapse on the chicken inside.
>>12839234tic tac toe was Moorhuhn Winter though, anon
