It means that Fang was carrying the Warp Topaz with him for the duration of Superstars, but is never shown actually using it. The comic makes it clear that he wants to keep the gem a secret, and may've only been using it off-screen.TailsTube had a feature on Silver the Hedgehog, and directly shows the moment of Super Sonic and Silver using the Warp Topaz to clean up the metal virus. There was also a feature on the IDW characters when Tangle and Whisper were introduced to Sonic Crossworlds Racing, and through the same alternate dimension logic for the Shadow Generations DLC, fucking Spongebob, Godzilla, and Evangelion are canonical to the Sonic timeline.Point being it makes the IDW Comics and side-games fit into the "everything is canon" stance the series has currently taken, and kinda rebukes that they're "Gaiden" or "Elseworld" despite the obvious problems huge world-threatening events like the metal virus arc presented, and Eggman's utterly irredeemable characterisation during that.An aside, Tails' Adventure placement is contradictory.The English manual says it takes place after Sonic 2, but the Japanese manual says it's before Sonic 2.Tails is able to perform the spin dash in his Adventure, as well as fly or use his tails as propulsion whilst running. These are implied to be things he picked up when trying to get fast enough to keep up with Sonic.
