Let's discuss and recommend multiplayer games, both co-op and competitive. I'll start with some of my favorites:SNES:- Pocky and Rocky 1 and 2- Seiken Densetsu 2 and 3GBA:- Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland and The Amazing Mirror- Shining Soul I and II- Zelda: Four Swords
>>12836985Spy vs spy, the first split screen PvP game on NES. It nearly lead to fist fights between my cousin and I, and my first ever fight over "stop watching my screen!" In a video game.
A truly legendary split screen game.
Rescue rangers was a good time in co-op. It just felt right lore-wise for chip and dale to work together.
>>12836985Metal Slug and Contra have pretty neat multiplayer modes.
The warioware mega microgames that make you both hold the GBA simultaneously
>>12837129I played this with my cousin on a C64 and it was a blast. The door traps were the best and I loved playing with the building fucking hueg.
Mario Bros on Game&Watch Gallery 4 on GameBoy Player using two controllers.
Aerobiz Supersonic is a surprisingly fun game to play against friends. Just be sure you play it on an emulator with a fast forward button, otherwise the repeated unskippable cutscene animations will drive you mad and turn you away from what's otherwise a very fun game.
>>12837194Mario Party Advance has a lot of gaddgets that do the same thing, I always thought that game used the button layouts well. Multiplayer duel minigames are good, too, the one with the hammer goes crazy.
>>12837194I think it can also work by having each player take turns, playing one microgame each.
I wish GBA games were easier to play mutiplayer.Maybe if the WiiU was powerful enough, one player could play on the TV and another on the gamepad.
>>12838030In my experience, 2 local mGBA instances work well, either playing in person or remotely sharing your screen with Parsec. In person, you can use a laptop or emulation handheld and connect it to an external screen, or just a single screen with both emulator windows.
>>12837753True, but probably easier to just run it as far and fast as you can and pass it when you lose.
>>12836985>games you need frens for
For whatever reason the co-op platformer genre kind of died after the 4th gen.Thankfully there's lots of great games on NES, Genesis and SNES
>>12840179There's a Super Mario World co-op romhack in case you're interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDY3O6hyO90
>>12837170This game was awesome. I played it with my neighbour as kids. Another good one is Goof Troop on SNES.
>>12836985>>12838030>>12838692What's the best way to play GBA netplay?
>>12842206There's this website that supports GBA cable link multiplayer: https://afterplay.ioBut I've often encountered connection issues, so in the end I just use 2 mGBA instances locally and use Parsec. The other player uses keyboard controls, and I use a gamepad. The setup sounds a bit convoluted but it works flawlessly:- I configure the player 1 (me) mGBA instance to mute when it's inactive, to prevent duplicated sound, and I set the player 2 mGBA instance as the active window.- I connect two gamepads to my PC, otherwise the gamepad input somehow reaches both emulator instances. There's probably other ways to prevent this but I haven't bothered to investigate.

>>12842742I can't use Parsec right now. Wasn't mGBA supposed to have multiplayer? Or was that VBAM?
>>12842816Both mGBA and VBA-M have multiplayer support.
