The Dreamcast scene has been going crazy recently. There has been some new thing to play almost every day for the past few weeks, whether its a port, a translation patch, or even servers for old games being brought back online.Recent happenings: Servers for Sega Rally 2, Sega Marine Fishing, Culdcept 2(Plus a full translation patch), Bomberman Online, Rune Jade, Pro Yakyu Team de Asobou, and Vanishing Point have all been brought back online. Sega Naomi ports are finally slowly coming out, right now we have Monkey Ball, Senko no Ronde and Cleopatra Fortune Plus with more already in development. New translations: Tokyo Bus Guide, Super Robot Taisen Alpha, Boku Doraemon, Tricolor Crise, and Segagaga. Black Matrix AD is also coming soon. Tons of random ports just keep flooding in too if you're into those: OoT, Sonic R(with online play), Runescape Classic, Star Wars Trilogy Arcade, Sonic CD and Mania, Mario Kart 64, Star Fox 64, too many to list. I also saw a video on twitter the other day of Tekken Tag Tournament which is crazy.Right now just might be the best time to be a Dreamcast fan. I don't understand why we're pretending that 100% human made projects are completely bug free and are always updated and maintained for years. Truth is most of these AI coded ports and translations are about as good as they would have ever been if they were 100% human made if not just completely perfect from the get go, and all of the ones that still need work are still receiving updates so ???. You also just wouldn't get most of this stuff without AI assistance. Nobody was ever going to manually decompile all of these Sega Naomi games for the sole intent of porting them to DC and if it ever did happen it would take years for even just 1 game.I'll admit not all of these projects are perfect, the Boku Doraemon translation is pretty bad(although it's bad enough to the point where I'm kinda confident the translation itself wasn't AI), but it's still better than nothing and is readable enough to understand what's happening. The OoT port is also not great and is reminiscent of playing the game on Project64 circa 2009 but it's still being worked on and will likely receive updates. Everything else here is pretty quality though and for the most part just works. Without AI we wouldn't have any of it. It's really not as bad as you think it is.
