I played UO when it was a demo, you had to dial in. First you had to get invited, and have the proper assets which consisted of an install of Ultima VII plus more shit you had to download. Then, you would appear in the game world and Dr. Cat would methodically track you down and kill you. I still have all of my old hard drives.

You'll just end up going online and looking up a build guide instead of creating a character with the skills that you think sound cool. You'll optimize the fun out.Same with every MMORPG these days.But back in the day, before all that, it was fuckin magic. You had to talk to people in game to learn things. People didn't just run past eachother and talk to guildmates only on Discord or whatever.It's still a lot of fun. I play it time to time, mostly solo. Fishing up sea serpents looking for treasure. Taming animals. It's comfy.
