Most of my most vivid XP memories is from the dawn of the internet and discovering music via P2P networks.

As far as games go, max payne 2 really sticks out in my mind. Played that on my girlfriends Dell prebuilt at the time in rural western NC. Have a flash bulb memory of sitting in the bed room with the windows up, storm was rolling in so strong winds was whipping the leaves around. Beat that game in one sitting while chugging bawls.

I had a friend who formated his PC every single day. His reason was that his PC was much faster after a fresh installation and slower the next day when he turned it on again.
He once invited me over to play some games, but I just stood there for nearly 2 hours watching him as he went through the whole process of installing the XP, the drivers and, finally, the games.

I had no idea what PC gaming entailed at all in terms of hardware differences and requirements so when I got HL2 due to all the rave reviews I had to play it with no lighting whatsoever and no shaders at about 4 fps. I welcomed the Xbox version, it actually let me beat the game.
