No one macro'd or scripted anything other than the most simple loop of repetitive "do thing, wait x seconds" thing to gain skill levels back in the day, because the third party programs for it didn't exist. If your entire experience with UO is private servers with Razor versions with scripting then yes I can see why you'd think this but you didn't play the game in its heyday
