as a collector I know that having more options for other people to gain access to play retro games can only create less demand for original copies. I'm pretty sure most collectors are happy that such things exist or are at the very least indifferent.

Buying something just to appreciate it is dumb as hell, everything I purchase I use. The old Sunbeam toaster, the 90's Weber grill, old general electric phone, eskimo fan etc, everything I have that's vintage it still gets used, if it was just to look at i wouldn't buy it. This includes video games.

I have the krikkz drives and the original games. Best of both worlds. I can admire the art on the game, manual, and case, and I can play the ROM without damaging the original. Win-win.

There used to be a lot of posts where people would ask if it was a good idea to buy loose carts of 2-3 fairly popular games around $30-$50 each just to play them. They'd get told to consider grabbing a flash cart for $120 which would be able to play 97% of the library, then they'd come out with all kinds of excuses like $120 being far too expensive and they'd have to go hungry for a month if they bought one but paying almost the same for three games was some kind of genius moves. As prices rose those kinds of posts shifted to $20 repros instead of actual carts.

Not sure why collectors would care about flash carts when emulators have been around for much longer.
