I won't flat out say it's better but definitely competitive enough that the difference comes down to taste. They both also have a ton of 2D games the other doesn't. The only reason the Saturn has a big reputation for 2D gaming is because that is all it really has to hang its hat on, it's a one trick pony. When it comes to the PS1, its large 2D library just doesn't stand out against everything else the console had going on.
