With NFL Season kicking off, my itch to play NFL Blitz again has come back full force. Growing up, my best friend and I would often play head to head for a best of three - then we would let the game simulate a season for our favorite teams.
More recently, Tecmo Bowl on the NES and the updated teams + roster as well

What are some of your go to /sportsball/ games, /vr/?

Sports games are for fags

>Tecmo Bowl on the NES
Looks like you mean Tecmo SUPER Bowl.
Tecmo Bowl was famous and popular during the initial run of the NES, while Tecmo Super Bowl didn't come out until relatively late in the generation. But TSB is the enduring one, the one with all the NFL teams and full seasons with stats and injuries and so on.

my friend and i used to skip computer class to go home early and smoke blunts and play nfl blitz on the n64. (in 2012 as 1995 zoomers)

Had a friend with RBI baseball, and another one that had Blades of Steel. Still replay them both at least once a year, though I'll only play Blades if I have anther person to play against, as even at the highest difficulty I find it far too easy to beat the computer once you've played it enough to learn all it's nuances. My go-to less mentioned game is Dusty Diamond's All-Star softball. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKcfbA8EVR4&vl=en-US

Look we know most of you got picked last for dodgeball and were first to be out but we're not your therapists. Go cry elsewhere.
>>

There is zero chance that you've seriously and willingly used the term "sportsball" and not had a cock in your mouth at some point.

Sensible World of Soccer, MLB Slugfest and Madden 95 are a few more of my favorites.

Speaking of >football

/vr/ returns to the 4cc Autumn Babbies after a 17th place finish in Summer. Both managers are on leave until 2027, so the team would participate in the Autumn Babby Cup as an autopilot as long as the board has interest to play. If you want to get involved as a caretaker, tester or manager please join our community and message either manager listed on the wiki >https://implyingrigged.info/wiki//vr/#Roster

I'm a bit younger than some but I loved Backyard Baseball as a kid.

I played sports games for years before I watched a second of actual sports. To me it was just a different kind of game, nobody in my family watched sports so it just felt like a video game genre to me
>>
>>12848840
they're like pvp action/strategy games. the real world analog is loose. if they used a more arbitrary setting weebs et al would be able to talk about them more
>>
>>12847625
While I can't help with the team, I always enjoy seeing /vr/ play kickyball.
>>
I still think that tsb on the genesis md has a cooler intro than the snes release, the downside is tecmo using gems for the guitars.

Tecmo Super Bowl would unironically be the greatest game on the NES if it was just a little bit harder. Even a semi experienced player can steamroll the CPU every time. I still play it all the time though.
>>
>>12849853
It does get significantly more challenging late in the season. (But never really hard)

This is the greatest golf game ever made and nobody ever talks about it
>>
>>12846983
NES football games suck honestly. SNES/Genesis has the Madden games, but only the ones without the passing window are good. Joe Montana was a good game IIRC. PSX is great with the Madden & Game Day games. Dreamcast has 2K1 and the best console version of Blitz.

>Check out Triple Play 2001 despite not having the slightest clue about Baseball and its rules
>"Meh, I'll just read up the basic rules and learn the rest on the fly"
>basic rules seem pretty simple and straightforward
>One hour later, still barely have any idea what is going on
>Every time I think I figured it out, some random stuff happens that makes me realize I am still completely clueless
>Read a guide for that specific game, now I feel like I know even less about that sport than before
>decide to read the official Baseball rules and it's filled with weird ass random stuff in the sense of "Yeah, when the ball hits the outfield wall in the exact moment when the catcher scratches his left ass cheeck, and it is a waning moon on that specific day, the batter is out. But only if it's a leap year and the pitcher's left shoe has a pebble in it"
Is baseball really that hard to grasp for an absolute newbie or am I just retarded?
>>
>>12849915
Interesting. Why that one in particular? Personally I think Mario Golf on the GBC is better in every aspect.
>>
>>12850756
I have to admit my bias because I'm a huge NES Golf fan, and GB Golf is just that formula perfected with better course design and control. Very fast, streamlined and fun. GBC Mario Golf is a very good game though and one of the best. Neo Turf Masters is also up there
>>
>>12850752
It is an esoteric sport but I didn't have that much trouble with any games even though I'm not a baseball watcher, I haven't played that game specifically so maybe it's just weird. try out Baseball Stars or Backyard Baseball, or if you're up for something newer the Super Mega Baseball games are really fun
>>
Super Dodge Ball Advance
>>
>>12850752
Baseball is far easier to understand than football. There are some weird rules (infield fly), but it's generally straightforward 95% of the time.
>>
>>12850752
just watch a real game for a few minutes and you'll get it.

three strikes you're out. 4 balls and you walk to first base. you dont need to know the rules for niche scenarios, that's the umpires job
>>
>>12849928
I can't play games that don't have a franchise mode. What's the point of playing well if you just start over at the end of the season. There's no drama, no glory.
>>
>>12852381
Lets be honest, franchise only matters for football games. Nobody is playing out an entire MLB, NBA, or NHL season, let alone multiple, to the point that franchise actually matters.
>>
>>12846983
Madden 2003. Used to play it with my dad all the time. The menu music is also very memorable.
>>
>>12852386
I do.
>>
>>12852621
No need to lie. You're not playing a full 9 inning 162 game MLB season for a decade so prospects, the draft, farm system management, etc. all actually matter. Hell, I don't think any games pre-PS2 gen even have all that shit.
>>
>>12852627
they truncate the season for nba. you can decide how many games you want to play per season
>>
>>12852706
That's not a full season. When I say an entire season, I mean a full 82 game season for NBA and NHL, 162 for MLB, etc.
>>
>>12846998
>>12847003
i cant stand niggerkneel irl but tecmo super bowl is a timeless classic on nintendo
as is NHL 94 on genny
>>
>>12853326
Kneeling hasn't been a thing for a long time, at least try to stay current. All the best QBs are still white and one is mixed.
>NHL 94
I have no clue how anyone likes the Genesis/SNES EA Sports games (baseball is an exception). They have zero control to them at all, just extremely floaty. It wasn't just the NHL series, but NBA Live and Madden too. There wasn't any traction to the players, like they're all floating around above the ground.
>>
>>12853634
They link arms and act all solemn like blacks are being lynched at that very moment.
>>
>>12853664
Again, that shit hasn't been a thing for almost a decade. Try and stay current.

You clearly can't read or are pretending to not understand. Read it again and when you don't understand what a word means, look it up.
