The spinoff needs to be clearly "about" the game it spun off from, then it should qualify.Frogger Beyond is clearly about Frogger without being a sequel or spin off. It introduces Frogger's friend Lumpy, creates a story about Frogger and makes a 2.5D game whose gameplay isn't exactly a remake or an entire reimagining. It occupies a space in between where you can comfortably say it's "about" the original Frogger gameplay to an extent as well. But that's not strictly necessary probably.
