I started playing this game based on one of your recommendations and it is really fun. The amount of options and upgrades for your mech are great and the the fighting missions are pretty good so far. Does anyone have any tips or tricks they'd like to share? I just ditched the president and flew with the chick to New York. I noticed in my last fight that my jump jet ability seems to have been used up and I can't figure out how to replenish it. The grenades are wrecking some shit though. Those ark bastards are gonna be sorry when I get back.
>>12851591>Does anyone have any tips or tricks they'd like to share?Play it on 8:7 aspect ratio so your wanzers won't look like lardasses.
>>12851593I'm playing it on a 3DS, the screenshit is from google. It never fails, you autistic retards would rather pick apart an image for some imaginary GOTCHA and pretend to be some bastardized csi than have any meaningful discussion about a game. This happens every fucking time I post an image. YOU'RE SO FUCKING BORING AND PREDICTABLE.
The aspect ratio has ZERO EFFECT on gameplay, you just want to be a faggot about everything you possibly can. Let this thread die, I don't want to discuss this game anymore. Thanks.
Why the fuck are you sperging out? Some SNES games are designed for 8:7 and some for 4:3, so pointing that out is useful. Graphics are an integral part of the game and Gun Hazard is a good looking game, playing it with the wrong AR is doing the game a disservice.
>>12851610No. all were designed for 4:3. internal resolution is irrelevant, it's designed to be stretched by a 4:3 CRT. ms dos does the same thing except its internal resolution is 16:9 so it's even more clear that 4:3 is right
>>12851612Ah shit it's that retard again.
>>12851612>ms dos does the same thing except its internal resolution is 16:9320x200 is 16:10The thing is dos games graphics were drawn in dos with rectangular pixels, so for the artists WYSIWYG.SNES graphics were commonly drawn using computers with square pixels, so unless the artists deliberately accounted for this, circles would turn into ovals and squares into rectangles.
>>12851616 (me)>ovals*ellipses, to be precise
>>12851616>SNES graphics were commonly drawn using computers with square pixels, so unless the artists deliberately accounted for this, they did. no one has a 8:7 tv
>>12851685Some did (picrel's Chrono Trigger moon), some didn't (picrel's Super Metroid morph ball & orbs). That's why I like pick on a game by game basis.
>>12851752*like to pick
>>12851752nope. 4:3 always. the games were playtested on 4:3 screens. the moon proves it. the samus thing doesnt make sense because we dont know what it was supposed to look like in their world
>>12851752Every single background detail in Chrono Trigger that isn't a cutscene (like the moon), is only round when playing at 8:7. This is the most cherry picked example in the history of this debate. The truth is that adjusting for 4:3 stretching is something that is easy to pull in cutscenes, but very hard or sometimes impossible to pull when dealing with tile based gameplay environments. But people take ONE example and are like "see? this is the PROOF that EVERYTHING is like that!", but that's not how it works, the moon being designed for 4:3 only proves that the moonw as designed for 4:3; and a game having both things that take 4:3 stretching into account and things that don't was extremely common. This thing is a rabbit hole and most people talking about it never went down it and just looked at the top of the hole from the outside. The truth is there is no objective best aspect ratio, often times not even within the same game, so just pick a preference and stick to it; and try to remain consistent, I could tell stories about how retarded it is to try to upload screenshots to mobygames and then they're like "nope this aspect ratio is wrong" when you can fucking SEE in the picture that it's not and then their standard for "correct" is "the resolution says 640*480 so that's correct even if thas that was taken from a shitty old capture card that has a shit ton of overscan and overstretching that's not meant to be there but hey it says 640*480 so that must be correct"
>>12851820One of the best examples for gameplay sprites that are meant to be stretched horizontally is probably MK.But yeah, I pretty much agree. I wouldn't be surprised if you could find examples of different sprite artists for the same game doing it differently. In the end it comes down to personal preference, and the historically accurate experience is still 4:3.
>>12851820>The truth is that adjusting for 4:3 stretching is something that is easy to pull in cutscenes, but very hard or sometimes impossible to pull when dealing with tile based gameplay environments.doesnt matter. they tried. and they all sent it out after playtesting on 4:3 tv's.
>>12851591Looks like one of those assault suits games.
I play in 8:7 because my 'held is 1:1 simple as
>>12851591>Does anyone have any tips or tricks they'd like to share?>hold down fire button at the start of a mission>press fast forward until enemies stop spawning>stroll through now empty level
>>12851616>The thing is dos games graphics were drawn in dos with rectangular pixelsNot necessarily
>click on thread because front mission is cool>all these faggots are arguing about aspect ratios with zero discussion of the actual gameYou people are niggers.
>>12852129Burgers?
>>12852117of course there'd be exceptions, like games developed on the Amiga as the primary platform and then ported, but drawing pixel art using DOS Deluxe Paint in mode 13h (320x200 256 colors) was very common>>12852129>zero discussion of the actual gameyou first, be the change you want to see
I wasted 4000 gallons of fresh water creating this
>>12851591>any tips or tricks they'd like to share? You can equip a partner and bring them into missions almost immediately, but people usually don't discover this mechanic until pretty far in the game. Try it!
>>12851752Even Chrono Trigger looks more correct at 1:1 for everything BUT the moon.Devs were not agonizing over this shit. They worked on computer monitors with square pixels.
>>12851591>The amount of options and upgrades for your mech are greatDid we play the same game? There are virtually no options in progression, every new part is just a straight upgrade, all of them do the exact same thing. Conversely, all gun types other than the minigun are not worth using at all since they're so colossally inferior.
>>12852220Hey thanks, that's really helpful
Pure nustalgja.
>>12852251Lol Brazilian FF7
>>12852226I got a frickin lazer beam and missiles so idk what your complaint is about. I don't think the gun you're describing is available yet. I also haven't gotten any upgrades for the pilot himself besides the stuff I found on that one mission in the facility.>>12852220I don't seem to have this option? I'm doing one of the first merc missions and I think I'm in the Alps I can't remember what the name was. Still having fun though!I'm gonna upgrade my pilots equipment now, I found some card at one of the bases and he said he thinks it's for another facility so I'm probably gonna have to get out of the wanzer and fight at some point.
>>12854932>I don't seem to have this option? You press R on the Setup menu to bring up the Friend menu. Should be available right at the beginning of the Cenktrich operation.
>>12855240Oh shit thanks
>>12855240Crap, my only option right now is Brenda, and it says "aerial bombardment" so I imagine she can't help if you're going inside a base.
>>12857054Yeah, you'll know when you get more partners. They serve different roles, like a traditional RPG party. As for inside a base, I never tried it! You move on from Brenda really quick.
