Haw you ever won anything retro game related from a competition/quiz/raffle/whatever? Games, toys, t-shirts, wallpapers, etc.
*HaveChrist, I'm going to bed.
No I have not.>>12852182>Available 9.9.99Ah yes, the day Squaresoft finally put the last nail in Sega’s coffin.
>>12852191Then started digging their own grave.
>>12852182>pic related>entered a Cartoon Netwook competition to win a Gameboy Pocket, Camera and Printer but instead ended up with the runner up prize, a Flintstones lilo (or whatever Americans call it, pool float)>not retro but 2007 I won a Popstation from Ashens
>>12852252>I won a Popstation from AshensNice. Still think about Chanticleer Hegemony every now and then
>>12852252
>>12852265Oh yeah, that reminded me, Cereal boxes used to have those CDs with them. And half the time they didn't even work. I remember searching for a special golden colored one that supposedly had 100 games or whatever. And when I finally found one did it work? No.
>>128521829.9.99>Ah, yeah, the day that could have saved videogames
>>12852191Ahh nigga, hive mind syndrome all over again
Won Mario kart super circuit from a school award ceremony as a kidThat's about it
>>12852182I won 20 tokens in an arcade store raffle like 30 years ago.
>>12852182When the SNES launched I was in second grade and wanted it so badly but we didn't have the money for something like that. My parents said "If you win the lottery you can buy one." My dad went to the store that night and played the "pick 3" lottery and asked what numbers I wanted to play. I said 871 because it was the first three numbers of our phone number and I was a kid who thought I would obviously win the lottery. That night we watched the number drawing and it came in straight 8-7-1. I can still remember jumping up and down with my parents freaking out. I won between $500-800 so my parents bought me the SNES and pocketed the rest. Very surreal and a truly awesome moment from my childhood. I got in trouble for inviting a girl over to play SNES when my parents weren't home and got busted playing Joe & Mac 2: Lost in the Tropica with her, great times.
>>12852182So who won the car?
>>12852595snes sucks. should have got a computer with that money. you could have been something in life.
>>12852702>a computer>in 1991>with 500-800buxAnon...
>>12852283
>>12852709could have got an amiga
>>12852715I'm sure Amigas were pretty cheap in yurope, but I don't think they were that approachable in the US... and they were already becoming an obsolete joke by the early 90s. Getting one in 91 means you had about about a couple months before Wolf3D came out and made it a fucking joke.
>>12852717if wolf3d made the amiga a joke what did it do to snezz? lol. at least amiga doesnt have input lag
>>12852721Wolf3D wasn't even on the Amiga in the early 90s
>>12852721Dude he got a chick over the house with a snes, no girl is gonna come over and play your faggy amiga
Friend's brother won one of these and we used it regularly for smash
I was one of the first 100 people to beat Ultima VI and I got a Certificate from Lord British.
>>12852731Kek. Put that in a tubular 90's commercial.
I won a 1998 corolla with a FFVII skin on it.
>>12852283 iktf
the idea of squall driving around town in a shitbox toyota, letting out exasperated sighs and ellipsis whenever he gets slightly cut off in traffic is rly funny to me
>>12853306Hey, at least it's not some shitty spic infested lowered bmw.iykyk.
>>12853421>tfw posted to /o/ 15+ years and one of the consistent FFVIII posters.I do know. I had to make sure this was /vr/ when I saw your post lol. What a sonnofabitch, that guy.
>>12852702
>>12853425Thank fuck for filters, I probably see max 5% of that faggot's posts these days.
When the PS2 internet adapter came out there was a THPS 3 tournament online for like $500. I got 2nd place and got nothing. ;_;>>12853449I used to find it at least amusing but he’s been saying the same catchphrases for years and years now and he doesn’t stop posting in every thread to this day. I will consider filtering, too, he uses the same phrases so it’d be easy.
Gamecube backbag from a magazine competition. It was the first prize. I think the question was something real hard like ''name the 2 plumber brothers from Nintendo's hit videogame series'' or something.I still have it. Guess it's pretty rare these days.
>>12853484Man that would go nicely with my NES pad belt buckle
>>12853484>>12853485This guy fucks.
>>12852715>AmigaFurfaggot computer
>>12852182I won a Guitar Hero II competition at Gamestop when I was about 16. I beat a bunch of kids and one really fat adult man that was gasping for breath the whole time. The prize was a XXL t-shirt and I was about 100 lbs soaking wet so I never wore it.
No :(
>>12852182>TOYS "Я" US>electronics boutique>BabbagesI feel old...
>>12852283Why is the Cocoa Krispies mascot on the Coco Pops box?
>>12852713Really wish they'd given it a proper sleeve.
>>12853290>tubularThat's '80s!
>>12855131yeah but thankfully it fits nicely in a jewel case
>>12855132A good bit of 90s culture is basically shit held over from the 80s, same with a god bit of 2000s culture being hold over shit from the 90s.
>>12853430Man, imagine paying 3k for a PC, haha...
>>12852182I won a chain chomp soccer ball from Nintendo power for a contest for mario strikers. Makes me wish i had entered more of them, but i was always too lazy to fill out the flyers.
>>12852702Nah. Nta, but i grew up as a pure pc fag and i still ended up as a failure.
>>12852182Back when a release meant something to the industry and fans rallied behind an IP. Now it’s all new and flashy cash grab micro transactions with a flooded market and old IP’s trying to get Gen X and Millennial dollars. Like Gears of War E-Day should have been a return to formula instead they dropped the ball pushing another girl boss. The core focus of the series was brotherhood, sacrifice, and suffering for the cause. Now it’s my grandma was a locust and I have some tribal Indian trinket. Wish I was joking. Fuck spoilers for anything not retro.
In my local toy shop in the early 90s, they would have a locked briefcase containing a super nes and games. For every purchase above a set amount, they would give you one key. You could collect them or try your luck right away.Needless to say my handful of keys never opened the briefcase but I have a surprisingly fond memory of trying them with my sister. Kind of like a consumerist king Arthur thing.
