>always hear this is the granddaddy of survival horror>play it>it's not so much that as it is a point and click adventure game where the monsters are puzzles you find the right items for in the mansion to instantly defeatOk but do the sequels become survival horror?
do you know what point and click means?
>>12852202Just watch some faggot youtuber play it instead, the experience is lost on you because you're clearly using a guide/walk-through from the start instead of attempting to actually PLAY the game. Go cry and complain somewhere else, maybe next time make a thread that doesn't immediately focus on negativity.
>>12852205He doesn't even know what a video game is.
>>12852208I beat it (admittedly not as both characters), burned down the tree and everything. It took a few days but eventually my mind went into "ok so where do I use this" mode.>>12852205Oh you know what I mean
>>12852208You sound upset.
>>12852202>Ok but do the sequels become survival horror? No, 2&3 are more action-oriented games with some really simple puzzles sprinkled here and there (the puzzles in the third game are so braindead simple, that they leave notes nearby that flat out tell you the solution).
>>12852202>retard doesn't know what a point and click game is>also thinks puzzles = not a survival horror
>>12852202>granddaddy of survival horrorthats the graphical adventure games where you die in 100 different ways.
>>12852893Project Firestart?
>>12852202It's not a good game but Resident Evil wouldn't exist without it so it's still very important. It's kinda like Ultima in that regard, games that are more important for their legacy and influence than their actual quality
It's a great game and zoomers can't cope with antequated graphics. That's fine - you'll just have to wait for an HD ray traced remake with a quippy girlboss and pay-to-win mechanics. It's no skin off anybody's nose, really, lel.
>>12852907>it's not a good gameExcept it is, no one cares what your opinion specifically is on it.And Ultima is better than most of its imitators. In fact, Ultima 4 and 7 are considered two of the very best video games, in general, ever created.Cope and seethe, weebtard.
>>12853003Based.
>>12852967>you'll just have to wait for an HD ray traced remakeIt came out last year, it was ok, still better than like half the AitD games because most of the games in the series are sadly shit.>>12852234>the puzzles in the third game are so braindead simple, that they leave notes nearby that flat out tell you the solutionI'm pretty sure every puzzle in 1 has its solution not in trial and error but just reading the journal entries where they tell you the answer. They just don't scream it in your face, you need to figure out that it's giving you the solution.Anyway the actual problem with 3 is the puzzles often ONLY make sense if you have the answer because they operate on fucking moon logic. Like, shooting that one cowboy who keeps spinning in the back because when he was alive, he died from getting shot in the back, that makes sense, that's an instalkill that fits in with the narrative. But how about let's give you a staff by an unrelated Indian character an hour earlier and you're supposed to know to use the staff on the sigil much later to defeat 2 otherwise indestrucible skeletons with shovels? Or how the only way to stop the guy shooting out the window is to block his shots with the night valet, an object you might not even understand its purpose because no one calls it a night valet anymore, it's a newspaper stand. And blocking his shots defeats him because it makes him check what's blocking his shots and then he falls to death. Which would make more sense if there was a SINGLE other enemy in the game where you were supposed to block his shots. And all of this is compounded by the game having really finnicky controls, like how if you don't stand in the EXACT right spot you won't interact with puzzles correctly and thus the actual solution won't feel like it's a solution.
>>12852202>Ok but do the sequels become survival horror?alone in the dark :the new nightmare is top 3 survival horror on the PS1.>male and female playable character with 2 different scenario that actually complete each other, done much better than RE1 or 2>amazing soundtrack>rich lore, tho it will filter ADHD people with long documents to read>some of the best graphics on the PS1>better puzzles than any RE
>>12852202Just shuuuut the fuck up.
>>12852202Resident Evil took inspiration from this, using fixed camera angles and pre-rendered assets.
>>12853726And the premise of choosing one of two characters to play as.
