More like Europe, the SMS was very popular in the UK.
>>
>>12852326
The NES of Bongland too

>More like Europe
I thought the NES was really popular in Scandinavia
>>
>>12852476
It was very popular in a lot of countries, it really depended region by region depending on the distributor.

Europe was not a centralized market and the UK was not "Europe"
>>
>>12852326
In Brazil, it was seen as the last resort option for poorfags that couldn't afford the then recent systems.
>>
All indie shit is nintendo-based nostalgia
Brazil and Europe should take some inspirations from the Master System, even if only to stand out a bit
>>
>>12852491
Yeah where are my wonder boy likes??? but nope, just make another metroid-like! (not even metroidvania since they never have vania elements)
>>
>>12852491
you have some msx-like indie stuff, which is not too far off from the Master System

It bombed hard in Japan too, to the point where it's the first region where they completely stopped releasing games for it
>>
why did Brazil like the sega system so much

What were they thinking?!

Ah, yes, the poverty console.

i remember it was like 1994 i was 8 and i had saved up to buy the coveted NES that was in a prominent place in the local toy store. when i expressed interest to the owner he immediately averted my attention to the sega master system saying "it's much better and it has a free game on it, with the NES you must buy a game on top of the console".
i ended up buying the master system. to this day i don't know if he was jewing me or it was an honest advice. by the mid 90s there were barely any NES games in the stores. but there was a lot of SMS.

>The NES of Brazil

They couldn't sell it in NA and Yourop so they dumped it in Brazil for minimal profit? Win for South America I guess. A similar situation with Genesis eventually is my guess.

it only has a spike in popularity when the "hero" turtles game came out, otherwise why bother
>>
>>12855991
>Never
I think at this point there are probably more Brits who have played NES games via emulation than there ever were who played a C64 in any form.
