Ok but really, do any of those add ANYTHING worth checking out? I could emulate all of these, but maybe these recomps added something cool you can't emulate, like mouse support for an FPS, or unlocked framerate in a game that gets all funky if you set it to more than 30.
>>
>>12852947
Nothing really. If anyone feels like modding, there it is, but otherwise no reason to use this yet.
>>
>>12852956
Well, call me when Megaman Legends and Brave Fencer Musashi get undubs. Or Black gets mouse support.
>>
>>12852924
why is oot almost perfect?
>>
>>12852924
That's nice. Wake me up when we get a recompile of something we actually need like Jazz Jackrabbit.
>>
>>12852947
Most games don't see huge benefits from it, no. If a game has a rich romhacking scene, then getting it running as a native PC game with vastly increased modding potential has huge value, even if some would keep doing it the old fashioned way.
Mario 64 is the gold star example, it has a great decomped port and it's wonderful that it happened.

But if a game has no such scene, and already emulates perfectly fine? Maybe a proper decomp port could be nice if it got even just a few people trying to make newer and more complex content for it that way, but that's a big if for a lot of work.

There's an F-Zero one that works too. Adds a bunch of things but I only wanted it for the widescreen really, adds to the speed feeling when racing
https://github.com/Zorkats/G-Diffuser

>>12852947
I liked the Perfect Dark one. The kb+m works really well and it's 60fps.
Widescreen alone is worth it for some games. Like most N64 games were in 4:3 and it's nice to be able to see more of what's going on, feels more immersive and so on

I finished Perfect Dark recently and it's really well made, even with in-game menu. Not a fan of ship autism and imgui overlays

has anyone got the Tooie recomp yet? it's way earlier on and I think vibecoded. I can't even get it to boot lol
>>
>>12852947
unleashed (runs far better and is more stable than the emulator) and perfect dark (mouse and keyboard). everything else? fucking useless, outside of maybe the n64 and beyond ones are useful to run those games at full speed in one of those shitty linux handhelds
>>
I just want Jagged Alliance 2 recomp...
>>
>>12852947
You're going to have to ask that on a per-game basis, many add shitloads more that you can't do with an emulator. Modern controller support, widescreen, and higher FPS being common enhancements most get that you can't just do on emulators in general for the most part.

The Star Fox EX and Virtua Racing (The port of the arcade one, not the recomp based on the 32X version) can increase the framerate to 60FPS and render the polygons at a higher resolution among a shitload of other enhancements.
>>
>>12854670
>enhancements
What a fucking joke. You people are truly retarded
>>
>>12854738
The only retard here is the one specifically complaining that the person who asked about enhancements was told about enhancements.
>>
>>12852947
The framerate interpolation for low fps N64 games makes them feel dramatically better. I can take or leave widescreen, it kind of makes Star Fox 64 look weird due to the object culling.
>>
>>12852947
Yeah the Banjo-Kazooie one has dozens of mods that wouldn't really be possible. You can play the entire game as an FPS, warp, etc

Perfect Dark also has mouse aim. A Pikmin one has mouse controls too.
>>
>>12852947
nope, all those are childrens game. here's a game for beer drinkers

What about Halo 1 and Dante's Inferno? Anyone tried the recomps?
>>
>>12855051
Man makes me want a Metroid Prime recomp. That dude was doing one with URDE like ten years ago and gave up.
>>
>>12852924
Why no mention of Zelda64Recomp for Majora's Mask? And there's also a recomp of Duke Nukem: Zero Hour out.
>>
>>12852924
skate 3 recomp ran perfectly for me
>>
>>12855519
Majora's Mask was a millennial thing. Zoomers are only into OoT.
>>
>>12855513
It will probably be done soon, like the graphic code from it was used by the Twilight port, just because it was fully decompiled first
>>
ayyyyyyyy hunters got a recomp.

N64 games playing at a decent framerate and better control schemes is amazing. Goldeneye and Perfect Dark in VR with twin stick movement and point aiming with a motion controller is sick af. VR feels so fucking good for pre-ADS shooters (I hesitate to call GE and PD boomer shooters). Doom and Quake in VR is awesome too.

Can’t wait for someone to give Shadows of the Empire the same treatment. Fantastic bones, clumsy execution even in the context of the time it was released.

>NOT a recomp
I've been playing that on my Nova, (the updated v2.0.8 version) and it's really excellent. It feels incredibly faithful, whilst giving so much QoL and improving the fluidity of playing the game.
Having 6 equipment buttons means I don't have to keep swapping things around, and I can have things like Pegasus Boots and Power Bracelet always equipped.

I put Boots on L, Bracelet on R, Sword on Y (West), Shield on A, Feather on B, and X is a free slot for whatever the dungeon needs.

I also love the attention to detail with the achievements, like acknowledging you sat in Richard's Villa for 3 minutes to hear Totaka's Song, or getting all 5 chests in the Tal Tal Heights chest puzzle room (leaving the room without collecting all five makes the remainder permanently inaccessible).
