Ok but really, do any of those add ANYTHING worth checking out? I could emulate all of these, but maybe these recomps added something cool you can't emulate, like mouse support for an FPS, or unlocked framerate in a game that gets all funky if you set it to more than 30.
>>
>>12852947
Nothing really. If anyone feels like modding, there it is, but otherwise no reason to use this yet.
>>
>>12852956
Well, call me when Megaman Legends and Brave Fencer Musashi get undubs. Or Black gets mouse support.

>>
>>12852924
That's nice. Wake me up when we get a recompile of something we actually need like Jazz Jackrabbit.
>>
>>12852947
Most games don't see huge benefits from it, no. If a game has a rich romhacking scene, then getting it running as a native PC game with vastly increased modding potential has huge value, even if some would keep doing it the old fashioned way.
Mario 64 is the gold star example, it has a great decomped port and it's wonderful that it happened.

But if a game has no such scene, and already emulates perfectly fine? Maybe a proper decomp port could be nice if it got even just a few people trying to make newer and more complex content for it that way, but that's a big if for a lot of work.

There's an F-Zero one that works too. Adds a bunch of things but I only wanted it for the widescreen really, adds to the speed feeling when racing
https://github.com/Zorkats/G-Diffuser

>>12852947
I liked the Perfect Dark one. The kb+m works really well and it's 60fps.
Widescreen alone is worth it for some games. Like most N64 games were in 4:3 and it's nice to be able to see more of what's going on, feels more immersive and so on

>>
I just want Jagged Alliance 2 recomp...
>>
>>12852947
You're going to have to ask that on a per-game basis, many add shitloads more that you can't do with an emulator. Modern controller support, widescreen, and higher FPS being common enhancements most get that you can't just do on emulators in general for the most part.

The Star Fox EX and Virtua Racing (The port of the arcade one, not the recomp based on the 32X version) can increase the framerate to 60FPS and render the polygons at a higher resolution among a shitload of other enhancements.
>>
>>12854670
>enhancements
What a fucking joke. You people are truly retarded
>>
>>12854738
The only retard here is the one specifically complaining that the person who asked about enhancements was told about enhancements.
>>
>>12852947
The framerate interpolation for low fps N64 games makes them feel dramatically better. I can take or leave widescreen, it kind of makes Star Fox 64 look weird due to the object culling.
>>
>>12852947
Yeah the Banjo-Kazooie one has dozens of mods that wouldn't really be possible. You can play the entire game as an FPS, warp, etc

Perfect Dark also has mouse aim. A Pikmin one has mouse controls too.

N64 games playing at a decent framerate and better control schemes is amazing. Goldeneye and Perfect Dark in VR with twin stick movement and point aiming with a motion controller is sick af. VR feels so fucking good for pre-ADS shooters (I hesitate to call GE and PD boomer shooters). Doom and Quake in VR is awesome too.

Can’t wait for someone to give Shadows of the Empire the same treatment. Fantastic bones, clumsy execution even in the context of the time it was released.

I've been playing that on my Nova, (the updated v2.0.8 version) and it's really excellent. It feels incredibly faithful, whilst giving so much QoL and improving the fluidity of playing the game.
Having 6 equipment buttons means I don't have to keep swapping things around, and I can have things like Pegasus Boots and Power Bracelet always equipped.

I put Boots on L, Bracelet on R, Sword on Y (West), Shield on A, Feather on B, and X is a free slot for whatever the dungeon needs.

I also love the attention to detail with the achievements, like acknowledging you sat in Richard's Villa for 3 minutes to hear Totaka's Song, or getting all 5 chests in the Tal Tal Heights chest puzzle room (leaving the room without collecting all five makes the remainder permanently inaccessible).

Because Halo is in no small part known for its multiplayer. Informing people of the port is great, that is appreciated. But people are stupid and lazy, and many will have not clicked on that link because
>Oh, another Halo PC project?
There are more than a few of those. But an Xbox port with working and active multiplayer would entice people who are interested in that sort of thing. There's an argument to be made that if people are too stupid and lazy to have clicked, then they deserved not to know. That's in fact very true, but when informing others of something, we should hold ourselves to higher standards when context matters i.e. the context of Halo being in large part known for its multiplayer. There is no need to reply any further. Good day.

This goes beyond recomps. Video games, provided you have the money for tokens, have become completely open source. There is no prompting anymore, you just tell Claude or Codex what you want, and iterate as needed. Video games have been solved (provided you have the money for tokens that can't be said enough). A new age has dawned.

Reminder: AI still can't handle DOS games. Can't port Jazz Jackrabbit to Windows. Hell, I doubt it can even finish the port some guy has been working on for years now.

https://github.com/AlisterT/openjazz

Claude is too weak and gay to handle Jazz.
>>
>>12878878
Do you know that personally? This isn't a gotcha or setup to a gotcha. Did you use Claude or GPT 6 Astra, give it Jazz Jackrabbit, and say
>Port this to Windows
I'm currently using it to to inject multiplayer functionality into a game that has no multiplayer functionality with nothing but the assets and a .exe, and it's doing it. I can't imagine porting a DOS game is actually too much for it.
>>
>>12852924
the animal crossing one is AI slop. I'm assuming a few of these other ones are too.
>>
>>12852947
So, aside from the performance benefits of running natively, this makes the games portable. So you could ostensibly run all your N64 scrimblos on your PSP, which is something it can't emulate reliably as of yet. Just an example.
>>
>>12878881
Nope cause funfact: A lot of the recomps/ports/etc are based on code not made by AI. RecompOne, Xenonrecomp, n64recomp, etc are the real reason for all the ports. The AI is just using those codebases in the (tedious) porting process.

This is important cause, despite Dosbox being a thing (as all recompillers get their information from emulators), nobody has made a Dos recompiller. On a certain level, this is a Windows issues cause they got rid of 16-bit support (NTVDM aka NT Virtual DOS Machine) but the point is that AI can't do shit.

Not until a human writes a DOS recompiller anyway. But hey, use some of your tokens to ask Claude if he could it. Ask him if he were able to port Jazz Jackrabbit to Windows.
>>
>>12878896
Intradesting. I don't use Claude I use the other C word, but ultimately I'm not interested in Jazz Jackrabbit.
