Today I played the original Mario Bros. with a friend on my Famicom and after I died I just kept making Mario noises into the microphone as he played and we laughed as they played back in shitty quality on the TV speakers
You can only get that experience with original hardware

amen
>>
>>12855432
You can do all of that via emulation.
>>
>>12855432
did you fart into the microphone
>>
>>12855486
Yeah, but it can't emulate my fist in your bussy.
>>
>>12855432
Gave me a heartfelt gleeful little chuckle.
Goodjob anon. Keep being cool
>>
>>12855486
Yeah but will you
Will you do that
Will you put in the effort to use a controller with a microphone and set up the emulator to behave exactly like an original Famicom in regards to this obscure barely used feature or would it be easier to just use the original hardware
>>
I dont remeber such a thing being possible
>>
>>12855432
The NES controller has a microphone?!
>>
>>12855915
The Japanese one does
In 1983 karaoke was booming so they originally thought karaoke games were gonna be a huge thing but the mic kinda sucks for it, there was one karaoke game on Famicom but it uses a separate mic peripheral. The only game that actually uses it for karaoke is Takeshi's Challenge. Nintendo mostly just used it for gimmicks, like killing Pols Voice in Zelda and haggling with shopkeepers in Kid Icarus.

Yes, yes I will.

>after I died I just kept making Mario noises into the microphone
RIP bad way to go
>>
>>12855486
Would be nice if someone could implement it on MiSTer. You can use the ADC for tapes on the microcomputer cores but you can't use it on the NES core, just a button press with white noise. It's bullshit.
>>
>>12855836
It's not. Famicom does have a mic, but all it detects is whether there is noise or not. It's literally equivalent to a third button on the second controller.

What compels you to comment authoritatively on things you know nothing about? The microphone mixes sound it picks up into the console's audio output, so you hear it amplified through the television speakers. You would know this if you've used it even a single time in your life.

There's a Golgo 13 game that uses it for karaoke, too.
>>
I didn't know this was a thing. Pretty cool.
>>
>>12855432
>You can only get that experience with original hardware
>connect mic to pc
>enable mic out
>boot emulator with mario
there. i recreated the experience.
>>
>>12857206
I literally have a Famicom you fucking retard. It plays everything you say back through the TV. I know this because I have it right here and have done it. You don't have it and you just assumed it worked like the DS's mic, probably because the only thing you knew about it was some DYKG segment where they talked about yelling into it to kill Pols Voice, then you didn't investigate it any further.
>>
>>12857374
You forgot to emulate friends
>>
>>12857206
Tell me more about how you've never touched a Famicom
