The process to "git gud" should still be fun, even if it's frustrating. If the high challenge can be overcome through dedication but what you have to be dedicated to in order to get to that level is a fucking slog then, yes, it deserves to be panned because no matter what's waiting at the end the journey was not fucking worth it.
But what if what's waiting at the end of the journey is Olivia in a Playboy Bunny outfit?Surely you would have to agree that it would be worth it then.

>>12855957The best games have the way the developers intended but also have room for the player to get creative and do abstract things without the game rejecting it. Abusing mechanics, game knowledge, or just being a cheap fuck, it is a "game" after all. So I agree with you 100%.
>>12855957>beat 'em up from Resident Evil 4's perspectiveWHAT WERE THEY THINKING
>>12857667that 3d is garbage for action games, so lets make it 2d with gaussian coordinates (radius, angle) instead of standard xy axis
>>12855957True but you have to actually finish the game before you can pan it. Playing a 20 hour game for only an hour or two and then acting as if you're some authority on whether it's worth it or not is the kind of thing vidya "journalists" do. If you didn't like it by that point maybe it just wasn't for you.
>>12857709>If you didn't like it by that point maybe it just wasn't for you.We should do away with subjectivity when it comes to game critique. Instead we should say the player wasn't ready for it. They are too unskilled (lowbrow)
>>12855957That's a lot of words to say nothing of substance. I never played God Hand back in the day, I first played it in like 2018 and it instantly became my favorite action game of all time. In fact, it makes other character action games feel stiff by comparison. I got good enough to get a Hard Kick Me Sign run done simply because I liked it that much. Sounds like you're in denial about being shit at videogames.
