Did Re:CoM render this entirely irrelevant or is there still valid reason to play this over that?
There’s no good reason to play any Kingdom Hearts games.

>>12855980attempting to translate the battle system into 3d completely fucking ruins it. re:com is garbage compared to the original.
>>12855983The thread already ended here, why are people still discussing it?
>>12855980The sprite art is very charming, and some people prefer the original battle system. (I personally prefer Re:CoM's though.)The big difference-maker between CoM and Re:CoM are the cutscenes and voice acting. If you're playing through the series for the first time and storytelling is important for you, I would definitely recommend Re:CoM.When I play through the series, I like to alternate. So if I played Re:CoM on my last playthrough, I'll play CoM this time, and vice versa.
>>12855980GBA has better gameplay and original 2D resources. ReCOM is mostly an asset flip with better cutscenes and extra bosses. GBA is better overall but both are valid.
>>12855983That was always my impression

They both have very different gameplay. It's a very skub topic because most KH autists inevitably prefer the one they played first and hate the other one.
>>12855980>Did Re:CoM render this entirely irrelevantFuck no, this is literally the best version. Re is just a shitty extra they gave to preorderers.
>>12855983You're right, there's plenty of GREAT reasons to play Kingdom Hearts, unlike the Saturn's gay exclusive.
>>12856556I hate both of them because I'm not autistic enough to care about deck building, and having an action-combat RPG where all your actions are decided by random card draws is stupid and frustrating.
>>12855980This version is better than Re:CoM. Honestly Re:CoM should have just been a movie. Playing CoM in 3D with the main models and animations just makes you want to replay KH1/2 instead.
>>12855983Based and unironically heartless
>>12855983Bodied that freak.
>>12855980>Did Re:CoM renderyes, and that is the issue.the 2d version is the superior version.
>>12855980The card combat system was very obviously not designed for an open 3D environment, and just spending 10 minutes playing Re:CoM shows you that. It was specifically tailor made to limit the amount of actions and animations playing out at any one time because of hardware limitations, which makes combat feel awkward and empty in Re:CoM because the limitations the card system was made to hide don't exist on the PS2. Enemies stand around awkwardly, with almost no effort to fight back (if they can even break your cards to begin with). Even most bosses just patiently wait for you to run out of cards or sleights before making their move when in any other KH game they'd break out or counter as soon as they could. Re:CoM just made me wish I was playing KH1.For people wanting the cutscenes and such, I don't see why. The cutscenes are still animated to the original japanese audio and performances, making the english dubs very awkward to watch with how many random pauses there are in the middle of lines to match the mouth movements. People can cry about Sub vs Dub all they want, some people simply like to listen to their language of choice instead of reading subtitles, and in this case the english dub is simply a mess. To say nothing about KH2 Sora's voice coming out of KH1 Sora sounding incredibly wrong.
>>12857471English vs Japanese voice argument gets weird with KH, since the objectively most accurate voices for many of the Disney characters are the English voice actors, but for the KH original characters, it would be the Japanese voices. Given how the Final Mix releases include the English voices, I'm curious what the hardcore Japanese KH fans tend to like.
