post a moment in game that filtered you and you dropped the game.

Never understood the Matador meme. Literally just use Sukunda and he's dead in 10 turns.

Buffs and debuffs are for fags.
>>
>>12858030
Buffs are also for cRPGs

If you use buffs or debuffs, you did not beat the game

Enjoy getting hardstuck at the first boss of the game i guess.
>>
>>12858162
you need to be at least at level 15 to beat him and by the time you first meet this latinx skelton your level is 11-12
the tedious grinding filters most faggots, but that's a thing of the past now there is easy mod and exp DLC in the remaster
>>

The Mongols' scenario 'Into China' from Age of Empires 2 made me drop the game the first time I played it. Some years later and with a bit of RTS experience under the belt I went back and barely made it through.
Much later I caved in, looked up a guide and realized you can trick the computer's offensive units by putting your town center near the gates, rushing to Castle Age to build castles in front of it and watch the units walk into the arrow fire because they beeline towards your TC, saving you a lot of time and resources before breaking through the Great Wall.

This was my party at Matador.
Fought every demon I ran into.
Captured every demon I could.
Fused the only two demons I could.
No interest in grinding. Achievable?

don't you mean sukukaja? i went into his fight with sukunda and he just dekunda'd himself after 2 of them which was like over half my mana's worth

>>
Well filters are usually EARLY in the game but Jimenez in Strange Journey walled me.
Checked a guide.
"Pray he doesn't use his pierce move because it is insta-kill" FUCK YOU MEAN "PRAY"?
I debuff his attack by two stages, I buff my defense by two stages, IT STILL ONE-SHOTS MY MC!
>>
>>12859145
What do you mean "achievable"? Your demons mean nothing. What skills do you have as a party? Do you resist wind? Can you debuff his agility? Can you buff yours up?
>>
Shaft in Rondo of blood is a huge difficult spike compated to what came beforehand in the game.
>>
>>12859496
No resist wind. No agility buffs/debuffs.

Skills:
1. Lunge-PHYS, Berserk-PHYS, (Life Bonus), (Analyze)
2. Lullaby-MIND/SLEEP, Mazio-ELEC, Rakunda-DEF, Void Mind-MIND, (Connection), (Seduce), (Matudi)
3. Hama-EXPEL, (Dia)
4. Agi-FIRE, Sexy Gaze-MIND/CHARM, Taunt-ATK/DEF, (Nag), (Pester)

5. Zio-ELEC, Tarunda-PHYS/MAG, (Beseech)
6. Shibaboo-NERVE/BIND, Needle Rush-PHYS, (Haggle)

Can I beat Matador without grinding?
>>
>>12859572
iirc there's a magatama you can toggle for the fight to at least let yourself resist some of his attacks to take some of his press turns. otherwise that team doesn't look like it'd make for a fun time
>>
Pretty much the end game of every JRPG I've attempted simply because I get tired of juggling status effects. It isn't so much a difficulty thing, just that it starts feeling like a chore. Sucks too because I adore everything about JRPG's except their end game gameplay.
>>
>>12859572
You are probably fucked but give it a try

Matador's entire gimmick is increasing his agility then hammering you with phys/wind. You need to be able to meet his agility to hit him (Fog Breath is helpful here) and resistance/immunity to wind means he loses turns from hitting you. There's a magatama you can use to give Demifiend resistance to wind and there should be one with Fog Breath floating around somewhere.
>>
>>12859610
FF6 is the RPG for you, then. Endgame equipment makes you basically invulnerable to pretty much all status effects, provided you kit up your party properly.
>>
>>12859632
FF3 as well, end-game gear is to have a ribbon for everyone. In FF7 and FF9 you can also kit yourself out to be immune to everything under the sun. FF9 makes it even easier by giving you a bunch of abilities that make specific characters immune to shit. You can block anything that isn't insta-kill on most characters. It's effectively required if you want to take on the hidden optional boss, since his special attack throws nearly every status effect at you.
DQ3 is also a good pick. The only status effects are poison, sleep, confuse, and paralyze. Poison isn't worth worrying about lategame, sleep and confuse are temporary and will go away when a battle ends, and paralyze is an easy cure. Most end-game enemies don't even bother with status ailments, just trying to smash you with physical or magic damage.

>magatama
I have Marogareh-PHYS and Wadatsumi-ICE.
Looked at a wiki, and apparently I would have to grind eight levels to get Fog Breath from Wadatsumi (LV 21).
Then there's Hifumi, which can be purchased for half my savings (4000 Macca).
It's description just says "Focuses on learning force magic." but apparently it nullifies all force damage.
Maybe this should be obvious considering Wadatsumi nullifies all ice damage.
But this feels like an assumption to me... using half my savings on the off-chance this will nullify force?
I suppose I could reload an earlier save if it didn't.
One last question. This might sound stupid so forgive me - I dropped this game three years ago...
How do you even know that Matador is using Force attacks? Does the game even say?
It's not like fire or ice where you could maybe see the elemental type from attack visuals.
I played SMT3 because I heard it's a game where you're never expected to grind, and strategizing and experimenting are rewarded.
I don't know that it's living up to this description, especially with the high random-encounter rate which makes it an endeavor just to return to a shop or boss fight to try new strats.
Was the description I heard accurate?
>>
>>12861529
well he specifically uses mazan, so you should've at least seen zan by that point in the game. but yeah imo the garu line of wind skills is more intuitive than force
>>
>>12858429
I'm playing DKC2 for the first time, and yeah, fuck this guy. I didn't save state to beat him, but the temptation was certainly there. Why were the devs so obsessed with Squawks in this game anyways? You pretty much have to master piloting him to finish the game, and not just for that particular boss.
>>
>>12861529
I found that nullifying death, buffing and debuffing, media and aoe (for trash)/singletarget(for bosses) magic are the most useful to have in a party. All of the chandelabrum fights seem pretty hard, but I'm at the part where the tough guy fortress gets attacked, so a bit after. You'd get your ass kicked by dante without media and immunity to death is mandatory for the windchime skelly. The unicorn was pretty helpful, still have him at 31. Havent found much use for cc

Strategy and experimenting are rewarded. If you play the game as intended, you'll quickly realize that leveling up demons tends to be a waste of time, they can't keep up, and so it's best practice to fuse, fuse, and fuse. You'll notice you'll have more than just 3 in battle slots for demon allies too. So use them.

If you play the game as intended, you'll go into a boss fight blind, notice the boss is using fire to attack you with, and so you swap in a fire immune demon to steal turns away from the boss. When your turn comes up and it's the fire demon ally's turn? If he has something useful to do beyond stealing turns from the boss he does that, or you pass and give his attack to a more useful ally.

Naturally this comes with risk, hence why your character has a bag full of items that can easily turn the tide of battle back on track.

Now there are some more predominate strategies, especially in the beginning. Sekunda and Sukukaja stack up to 4 levels in either direction in battle. At max stacks, that means the boss is - 4 accuracy/evasion and you're + 4 accuracy/evasion meaning they're almost always guaranteed to miss and you're almost guaranteed to hit. There are some encounters you can autoattack through with this strat early on. Eventually bosses get the ability to dekunda an dekaja (dispel) buffs and so what you're really going to be leaning on is the inherent immunities and absorbs your demons have like that fire demon ally example I said... only the demons will have far more immunities than just a single simple immunity to fire.

To get these though requires experimenting with fusion to get the skills you absolutely need and experimenting with all the demons you can possibly make to find the ones that are really difficult for enemy teams to not lose turns to.

Got to the 5th Kalpa right before going into the tower and dropped it. Can’t use the map in the final level of the labyrinth and was already pissed off with the game when they turned it into a shitty survival horror with the Dante chase.
>>

>leveling up demons tends to be a waste of time
>it's best practice to fuse, fuse, and fuse.
But you can't fuse if Demi-fiend is under-leveled, right?
I only had one option for fusing at my level, and it wasn't very helpful.
>notice the boss is using fire to attack you with, and so you swap in a fire immune demon to steal turns away from the boss.
Maybe fire is obvious, but what even is "force"? Unless I'm mistaken, the game doesn't say [FORCE] in his attack anywhere, or even when it hits one of your demons that might be weak/immune to it. Can you look up your own demons' weaknesses/immunities during battle? Maybe that's something I could have done...

Force/Zan (called Wind/Garu in Persona games) is green color coded particles and also the game will announce the skill like Mazanma or whatever, when the enemy uses it.

Just memorize the skills. Bufu = Ice, Agi = Fire, Zan = Force, Zio = Elec and so on.

This is really the first time the game expects you to use buffs and debuffs. Most people just coasted thinking big damage was how the game was meant to play.

You don't "grind" in SMT3. Just recruit a bunch of demons, fuse the one with Media and heal every turn, get Hua Po for Rakukaja, which you will need for every boss fight, get another demon with wind resistance and buy the magatama for it. Use Fog Breath once and keep using normal attack. Hard mode isn't that much different if you're using Rakukaja. You should at least be able to keep your protag alive and finish the fight.
>>
>>12861337
Kabukicho is the worst of it because of the gates and random battles. Dungeons in 3 are actually straightforward compared to the 2D ones.
>>
>>12874339
lots of subway tunnels though...
>>
>>12874358
Those have lots of optional stuff, you can just run from entrance to exit pretty easily. First playthrough I spent days fighting the onis because I thought that was required
>>
>>12866823
That's only for the 2 basements, and you still automap them and can see them in B1F
>>
>>12870956
Specter has a high damage attack and Hua Po learns Rakukaja.

>>12859153
He still wastes a turn doing it, which helps.

>>12858297
Grinding is unnecessary unless you're skipping battles and didn't meet a level requirement to fuse. There's no level 15 demon needed to fight Matador.
>>
>>12861529
>apparently I would have to grind eight levels to get Fog Breath from Wadatsumi (LV 21).
Preta and Inugami gets it much earlier. Not strictly needed but it's one way to beat Matador
>>
>>12861529
>I played SMT3 because I heard it's a game where you're never expected to grind, and strategizing and experimenting are rewarded.
Early game is the hardest, things start to cool off after the Ikebukuro boss fights and you get access to more skills. The first 5 bosses are a throw-you-into-the-wolves tutorial. If they don't filter you, the next 50 bosses should be no problem. You're not expected to beat them first try and the dungeons are short so you can terminal back, fuse and walk back to the boss. Use repulse bells and pixie's trafuri. Have protagonist keep magic and buffs you need at the moment. ie: if none if your demons have agi, learn fire breath. Pay attention to upcoming skills at the magatama screen. Use your items, replace skills as necessary. The only must-have protag skill is Endure at lv50, you have 7 remaining slots to fill in what your party is currently missing.
>>
>>12875107
>He still wastes a turn doing it, which helps.
not really. my attacks were still missing so if anything, HE got a free attack on me. my playthrough got way more mileage off just maxing rakukaja with hua po at the start so i wouldn't have to use a bead chain every turn
>>
>>12869705
wdym? this is why i play retro games
>>
>>12875390
Ideally it's better if Matador misses, but yeah. Sure. Raising your defenses to withstand his attacks still works and is certainly better than nothing.
>>
late game nukes
put counter and bright/dark might on mitama for easy learning
get uzume and sudama, level them for mana refill and makatora, fuse
get an ongkhot and level it
spam multi-hit magic like fire breath, shock, etc
learning Deathbound on protagonist is almost free, pump vit to 30 and get 25 strength before level 60. strength stat isn't in Deathbound calculation so you can pump agility or magic. fuse Kali instead if you're on NG+
