What was the most fun part for you playing GTA SA?
swimming underwater for 10 minutes to build up lung capacity
>>12861024turning it off and playing 3 instead
>>12861024Catalina and Toreno's missions are pretty fun for me, though Vertical Bird can be horrible on your first attempt. Lure was alright. Then there was also that side mission where you steal Elegy and Sultan with Cesar and race through the city. Setup missions for the casino heist were more fun than the heist itself. Saint Mark's Bistro is also cool because of what it achieves. On the other hand, Zero's missions are horrible on gamepad (this applies to practically every section in 3D era titles that forces free aim: Phnom Penh or some missions in Vice City Stories felt impossible because of that, I look forward to some reverse engineering that allows LCS and VCS to be played with mouse and keyboard). The worst parts was the tutorial that the first section of Los Santos is and then Return to Los Santos which is just repeating gang wars over and over.I feel like they should've introduced turf wars later since any progress you make is pointless once you're exiled which makes no sense if you happen to own the entire city before Green Sabre.Businesses are kind of wasted compared to VC. You get some story based revenues like the turfs, garage in Fierro, airstrip and casino, but as for the side activities, you only get that from courier missions and maybe valet parking (not sure about this one), but they aren't shown on the map, so you forget about them quickly, plus their revenue isn't impressive either.>>12861041Spot on as well. That mechanic was pointless.
The first part of the game until you get thrown to countryside obviously, which is what most people only played ever.Being able to eat/train to make CJ look different. Then when it's about to get stale, you are told that "you will now learn to fly planes by watching vhs tapes" and the game picks up again.Vegas and return to LA has some interesting missions here and there.Gang wars used to be fun when I was younger but in reality you just point M4 to their direction and hold down or burst fire button and nothing else.>>12861041This is the best answer considering you never build up the capacity organically at any point of the game. I think they were just trolling players.
>>12861051VCS got unofficially ported to PC last year
>>12861061Which one? I've been following a project that's built on reVC, but it's still not completed.
>>12861024For me, it was that mission where you chased that lil nigga Loc on the go-kart
>>12861041It was a novelty thing, if they actually introduced the oysters (and made them worth picking up) or gave any real reason to swim besides oh crap I can swim now more people wouldn't have to just mindlessly drown yourself to complete Woozys mission.
>>12861057>Then when it's about to get stale, you are told that "you will now learn to fly planes by watching vhs tapes" and the game picks up again. They should just let you fly the plane and have some funny dialogue where CJ says that he doesn't know what the fuck he's doing. Replaying the school is always slow even if you already know how to fly. No game before or after that demanded that you complete some course in order to proceed. It makes no sense that Tommy can fly, yet he does, because that's what Tommy does.
Also is the joke in this thread that no one is supposed to point out it didn't come for gamecube.>>12861068I dunno well he doesn't necessarily need the plane license that much because all the missions are glowie cia black ops stuff so if he already knew how to fly they could just fake any license. Just that he doesn't.
>>12861075>Also is the joke in this thread that no one is supposed to point out it didn't come for gamecube. It could run, but the discs were about 2.5GB and San Andreas on its own without audio takes up 1GB
>>12861062It's an extension of VC on PC converted to VCS with all the assets converted from the PS2 version
>>12861057>This is the best answer considering you never build up the capacity organically at any point of the game. I think they were just trolling players.See now, I hear this a lot now days and I guess it's just difficult for people to comprehend how much of a novelty swimming was on it's own. Like seriously when I was first playing this I would swim around for 10-15 minutes just going around or looking for random stuff (oyesters and what not). While they don't really give you anything worthwhile they gave you something to look for.But seriously I have a pretty fond memory of just swimming around in the SF area, just enjoying the environment and looking for any secrets or weapons. It wasn't until about 2013 or so I started hearing people complain about the swimming, it was so baffling to me I was convinced they must have had the frame limiter off or something, where that actually does fuck up the swimming but no it was just complaining about the need to engage with it at all. Strange people.
>>12861101How does it work? Did they manage to port the empire building? Where can I find it?
>>12861112I think this is it? https://archive.org/details/gta-vcs-pc
>>12861128That's not the one. It's a San Andreas mod from over 15 years ago or something that had just 4 missions. It's impressive for what it is.
>>12861104Swimming in 3d games had been a thing for almost 10 years by gta sa and it's not super demanding to do it but it can just be perceived as useless extra work in games even nowadays which means it's still a legit thing to just respawn player somewhere or restart checkpoint if player falls into waterNot shitting on you liking the swimming because it takes nothing away from me if you do.
>>12861024the 2 player mission mode, my cousin and i would activate that and then just mess around and cause chaos
>>12861024jetpacking to area 69casino heistexploringdriving dirt bike off mount chiliadlooking around for jokes and easter eggslistening to all the npc dialogue listening to all the radio shows and commercials
>>12861042SPBP>>12861024But as for SA, it's probably the Las Venturas chapter after you learn how to fly planes and helicopters, doing the Area 69 mission and the optional casino heist missions. That whole stretch of the game was a fuckin blast.
I know most people prefer Los Santos obviously but I love the vibe of San Fierro so much.It makes me wish I could live in 90s San Francisco.
>>12861193There's something to the slope roads.
>>12861042literally and unironically what i was going to post verbatim
>>12861193>>12861204>"gentle" city as Caesar calls it>curviest (non-straight) street in the game>the radio DJ for the city's station is a fag german immigrant>with a gay district, complete with gay pride flags on the lampposts in one of the neighborhoodsIt's a gay city, but I can't deny the vibe of late '80s house music with the sights of San Fierro.
>>12861215Well there's literally rainbow flags there in the game too so it's not much subtle xd
>>12861230They are limited to a single district. It's funny since it has the only gun shop in the city.
>>12861024Doing most of the optional missions like the triathlon, the trucker missions, races, etc. I enjoyed getting lost in this world and taking any excuse to go back and play.>>12861041I started swimming across the county's rivers towards the sea. Oddly comfy when it rained.
>>12861024Hanging out near the highways and watching the multi car pileups.
I remember in high school I found out my little brother was perscribed 50 mg vyvanse....he was 5 years younger then me and super small. I remember taking one and I was geeked to the fucking gills, i couldnt believe it. Anyway. I remember taking them on occasion and playing gta san andreas until my eyes bled, I just remember having fun fucking around on a bicycle in the skate park and just fucking around I barely actually did any missions.
>>12861137Nice, I remember if you kissed on a boat you'd sink to the bottom of the ocean floor and you'd be able to walk and run around without losing air. It was very fun. No idea if it worked on anything other than the Xbox version.
Getting up to the highest building and sniping random people. Also causing pile ups on the highway and shooting them with yhe rocket launcher.
>>12861476Also riding the mountain bike up the mountain and doing insane stunts off the top
>>12861024Beat the Cock
Shooting all the black people
>>12861024I just started smoking weed when this came out, so getting home from work, fucking my gf and then sparking up a bowl and playing SA was really fucking comfy. Looking back it was one of the best times in my life and SA happened to be a big part of it. I was also a semi-wigger so it felt like the game was made for me, I couldn't believe they made a "hood" game like that. Good times.

>Vice City sucks because you can't swim>San Andreas sucks because you can swim
>>12861136It was new for GTA dumb fuck.
Punching random pedestrians to death in one combo without using the last elbow strike learned from Below the Belt Gym.
>>12862596More like you couldn't even float on surface in VC.>>12862678I heard someone claim that swimming underwater is just blue screen filter and slower movements combined with some wave effect.
>>12861137>2 player mission modeI had a lot of fun playing with my only friend back then, but the camera was awful. I’ve had more fun with samp and mta just because of the camera, though you can only get so much out of minigames and just roaming around. I’m looking forward to the co-op mod, i hope it's not as janky as the last one.
>>12862826How does gravity work in the GTA engine?
>>12862956I dunno probably it uses math.
>>12862826>I heard someone claim that swimming underwater is just blue screen filterGenuinely wouldn't be surprised, I never bothered looking into it myself but given how much of a mess SA is in general I believe it.
>>12862956idk, but CJ hates it
>>12863018I tried adding underwater sections to a game that didn't have them and what you need is>slower movements>blue filter>blue fog>wave effect>different animations if it's swimming and not just operating underwaterIt really isn't much else but why would it be.. It's not like there's some water mass there, it's about illusions.
>>12862210>t. black person
>>12861104It ruins the immersion because black people can't swim
>>12863010Lol

when it ended so i could go play vice city instead
>>12861024Call me old fashioned, but I liked getting all the tags
>>12863919It was the case. They should've made it so that if you're discharged from hospital or police station you also get in debt.
>>12864130Whoa, it's just a videogame, bro. Not IRL America
I love it all. The only area I didn’t enjoy that much was San fierro. It’s okay, but I’m not a big fan. The best parts of the game:The gang areas in los Santos are perfect and that part of the game feels very personal and fleshed out. I loved the country side and the desert. Maybe the countryside the most. I wish they did more with both. Would be perfect with a biker side story. And I have a soft spot for las venturas. It should have been fleshed out way more, but I find it very calming there. The music in the game is amazing and driving most vehicles still feels peak.
>>12861051The Catalina/rural bumfuck missions were comfy af
>>12865317I thought Catalina and her missions were fucking annoying. The rural area was comfy, however.
>>12861024probably being on gamefaqs at the same time and seeing all the shit people were discovering live
>>12865320What did you find annoying about them? The only thing that might've sucked was the quadbike section since they're slow as fuck and before you gain control they're a good distance away. It doesn't help that Catalina's aim sucks.
>>12861024Missions where you have to shoot a lot of enemies. The one where you murder a fuckton of russians and the one where you kill t-bone mendez and ryder and I think my fav is the one with that vietnamese shit where you have to kill their leader.
>>12861024>What was the most fun part for you playing GTA SA?The soundtrack. I ended up enjoying all these songs I wouldn't even try listening otherwise.>Any GTA game.>I end up hooked to the Jamaican radio station halfway in.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ky2uJicTzdg
>>12861024Unironically, it's to just go cruising on the highway while listening to the radio. Beat the game like 10+ times now, but that's always my favorite part.
>>12861024>What was the most fun part for you playing GTA SA?flyingjetpacks, jets, airplanes, cheat code flying carsthen character customization
>>12865332>probably being on gamefaqs at the same time and seeing all the shit people were discovering liveThis except it was gamewinners.
It's a bit silly but I enjoyed just getting a plane and parachuting to the target area when a next mission was a bit far away, even if I could travel by car relatively fast.I also realized very late that you can take a commercial flight or ride a train because I'd just go to the airport and steal a plane whenever I needed to go to a different city.
I don't think this game would have fit on a 1.4gb disc, wasn't it on a dual layer dvd for the other systems?
>>12865475You can ring my beeeeelllllllll
>>12865807As someone has pointed out, the game files themselves were only about a gig. The radio station music took up most of the space. I guess they could have just cut out a few stations or lowered the quality a bit to fit it on a mini-DVD...(they did for Skies of Arcadia).
>>12865843Would have been a waste of time, I remember how bleak the gamecube retail space was when this game came out, at least here in Australia the majority of stores didn't even carry gamecube games, you had to go to EB games to get anything.
>>12861024Desert + Casino missions Very challenging and fun
>>12861024The coolest mission is the one in which CJ flies to Liberty City and assassinates the boss of one of the Big Three mafia families.
>>12866060For me, it was glitching over the wall in that mission and exploring the surroundings without falling through non-solid ground
>>12861024larping as a hoodrat in the first third of the game around grove st
>>12861024Cheat code for flying carshot coffee
>>12863165>followed by jumping on top of a car, stomping once, and car surfingThis but with the rocket launcher or M4. Also doing strafing runs in the apache or harrier. Stupid draw rate kept it pretty tame though
>>12861024>the horses all had equal odds and not the ones assigned to them.
>>12861041hardly the worst roadblock GTA ever came up withdon't even need to look further than SA, reclaiming gang territories before the finale was negative fun
>>12861024Doing the missions with the apache cheat code like some kind of ghetto special forces.
>>12861024That mission where you have to kamikaze RC planes into vans
Once the entire map was unlocked, I'd just jump onto the freight train and travel the entire railroad.
